The first thing that stuck us as CBS rolled (muddled?) through the NCAA Selection Show was how title-heavy the South Region was.
Consider poor Kentucky. If the Wildcats can manage to get by their first-round opponent (TBD), they may get (in order): the defending champion (Connecticut), then a five-time titlist (Indiana) and then a four-time champion and perennial contender (Duke).
And Bruiser Flint thinks Drexel got the shaft.
Here are schools in the South Region that have won NCAA titles:
|1||Kentucky||7||1948, 1949, 1951, 1958, 1978, 1996, 1998|
|2||Duke||4||1991, 1992, 2001, 2010|
|4||Indiana||5||1940, 1953, 1976, 1981, 1987|
|9||Connecticut||3||1999, 2004, 2011|
