Tarping The Future

Tarping The Future

On July 7, 2007, the Phillies suffered the 9,999th loss in their history ... The next day, they came to the rescue of the Colorado Rockies' grounds crew when weather wrecked havoc with the tarp during a rain delay in Denver.

The Phillies then went on to win their next three games, combining with the All-Star Break to delay Loss No. 10K for a week ... And over the next four and half seasons, would go 430-293, a .595 winning percentage, and capture a World Series, two National League pennants and register the best single-season record in their history.

We bring this up, simply because it sprang to mind the moment we saw the video clip of the Pirates jumping into action when one of their grounds crew members was swept up in the tarp at the onset of a rain delay in Pittsburgh.

All we can say, is keep your eye on the Buccos ...
