Six in a Pinch for Phillies

Ben Francisco hits the sixth postseason pinch-hit homer in Phillies history.

With Ben Francisco's historic blast Tuesday night (shown above), only the Yankees (with 11) have hit more postseason pinch-hit home runs than the Phillies' six. (The Dodgers also have six; The Cardinals are next with five.)

Tuesday's homer was the third of the Phillies' six to break a tie, and the second of the six to be the Phils' first runs of the game.

In his regular season career, Francisco has just one pinch homer in 112 plate appearances. Before the homer, he was hitting .056 (1-18) for his career in the postseason at all positions.

Francisco's homer was just the seventh postseason pinch-hit home run with at least two runners on in the seventh inning or later. The most recent had been San Francisco's J.T. Snow (against the Mets' Armando Benitez) in 2000 NLDS (Game 2).
