Single Digits (May 7)

Single Digits (May 7)

A half-dozen quick stats that caught our attention recently ...

♦ The Phillies will play their 20,000th game Thursday night. They would need to go undefeated between now and Sept. 1, 2020 to reach .500 all-tme.

♦ Cody Asche has been involved in both Phillies grand slams this season. He belted one Tuesday night and was on third base when Jimmy Rollins connected on Opening Day in Texas.

♦ John Mayberry's on-base percentage (.323) has now doubled up his batting average (.160).

♦ By the way, Mayberry is now 0-for-10 with three walks and four strikeouts at Citizens Bank Park this season ... He is 0-for-19 at CBP dating back to Sept. 11.

♦ In between NFL draft research, I went through 96 years of NHL stats and found that this year's Flyers team is the first in league history to have seven players reach the 20-goal mark without one of them reaching 30.

♦ Kevin Durant is the fifth player to be named NBA MVP whose first name starts with a "K." The others: Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
