Single Digits (April 16)

Single Digits (April 16)

A half-dozen quick stats that caught our attention recently ...

♦ Dan Uggla's grand slam Monday night that gave the Braves' a 9-6 victory at Citizens Bank Park broke an eight-game winning streak by the Phillies on Dollar Dog Nights.

♦ The Flyers are 3-0 in Madison Square Garden when Claude Giroux scores a goal ... 1-12 when he does not.

♦ Union College defenseman (and Flyers new signee) Shayne Gostisbehere was a plus-7 in the NCAA Championship game Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center. He was on the ice for all seven Union goals — and none against — in the 7-4 win over Minnesota for the title.

♦ Flyers defenseman Mark Streit and Columbus rookie Ryan Johansen were the only NHL players to score in each of their club's last six games. Streit had 10 points over that stretch, Johansen eight.

♦ The last time the Bruins and Red Wings met in the playoffs (1957), Bobby Orr had just turned nine years old ... No, he did not suit up for the Bruins that series.

♦ The Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki (89.8%) should finish as the NBA's top free-throw shooter, but he could also become the first league leader since 1985 (Larry Bird, 89.6%), to not crack the 90% mark.
