A "playoff" team going no where. Back in the '80s when Harold owned the team I remember billboards that said "We owe you One". Now it's up to 30. No one is listening anymore, let alone filling the arena. Put butts in the seats? OK, sell the franchise to a city that will buy empty promises. If the Roberts family (Comcast) is sincere about making this franchise a winner, they can start by getting rid of Ed Snyder and Stefanski. Snyder cares only about the Flyers and Stefanski is a fraud who cannot evaluate talent. Otherwise, we'll be discussing this same question over the next 30 years.

Exactly. Fans love superstars, they showed up for Moses/Dr. J./Cheeks and young Barkley and young AI. Fans are not going to throw money at a team with no hope of a title. Their best case scenario, if every possible thing goes right, would be to be the 10th best team in the NBA. Sorry, that won't excite fans in a town that has never been that into pro hoops anyway.

50 years ago, in Boston, the Celtics were we winning championships every year but you could always get a ticket to their games; meanwhile the last place Bruins were sold out every game. Pro basketball is an overpriced, boring game with several players standing around while a teammate goes for a dunk. And it is true that the only excitement, when most games are won, is in the last 2 minutes but with all the timeouts, it takes 20 minutes to play.

The only teams that have won championships since 1980: Lakers (Kobe, Shaq, Gasol, etc), Bulls (Jordan), Spurs (Duncan/Robinson), Celtics (Bird, Garnett, Pierce), Rockets (Olajuwon), Drexler), Heat (Shaq, Wade), Pistons (Thomas, Dumars). So according to the arguments about the Sixers needing to tank instead of win...what are you hoping for? The second coming of Duncan or Kobe or Shaq to just drop into the Sixers laps?? Come on, use your heads...should the other 23 teams that havent won titles just tank and let the big 8 win all the games? Then hope to get lucky enough to land the #1 spot in the lottery, then hope for the second coming of Magic Johnson or Olajuwon to magically appear? Its freak luck now with the lottery system...everything has to come together perfectly for the Sixers to grab a Hall of Famer to lead them...they should NOT tank..they should win as many games as possible then some day do what the Celtics or Lakers did by landing a couple of superstars still in their primes in exchange for a bag of semi-chewed and digested peanuts. Stop crying when the sixers win or when they get dumped from the playoffs...the NBA is rigged a certain way to allow only certain teams to achieve prominence. Just be happy to watch them win a few games and maybe the Sixers will get lucky and make a move within the next few years.

I haven't gone to a game since Shawn Bradley played for the Sixers. Two seats cost me more than $200.00. The game was awful, the music level was deafening, and at every time out, the music blared and some stupid group came on to the court to distract the fans from going to sleep. I miss Convention Hall and Zinkoff. The players were approachable and the game was the focus of the event, not the music and lights and sideshows . Basketball has marketed itself into a useless freak show.

Ticket prices are still too high - that's the biggest problem.

People who have money generally have nothing in common with these players. From their tatoos, to their personal stories. It is difficult to attach your soul and spirit to a team you have nothing at all to identify with

First. all you haters who dont appreciate basketball can take your negative energy and complain about something else. allen iverson brought basketball back to philly as evidenced with this teams dramatic run in the 2001 finals. we could have very well won that series every game was close. this season we are on that same path and could win a ring this season (insert limiting/negative thought here for the haters). Basketball is a street sport and that's where it should stay....on the streets.

uhm isn't this obvious? Lower ticket prices. Just went to a game (because I love the Sixers unlike the posters above...I'm still a fan) and got 15 dollar seats. I thought great, 2 of my friends and I we can go for 45 dollars or so. Right?? 15 dollar x 3 = 45 dollars? Wrong. With ticket fees (half of them bogus...costs me to print them out at home??? huh??) the total came to 77 dollars. That's right. So I paid over 30 dollars of taxes, on three 15 dollar tickets. Owners should be ashamed. Anyway Indiana did a buy a ticket with no fee night, Sixers should try that, and if they do I will definitely buy a seat to a game.
