PK Loves Eagles, Sure, But Loves Giants More

POSTED: Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 12:51 AM

I know what you've read and heard. Peter King, NFL savant for Sports Illustrated, loooooves him some Eagles draft. Well, true as that might be, it doesn't mean Peter thinks the Eagles will even win the NFL East division this season.

That is, if you ascribe to King's post-draft, post-free agency power rankings of the 32 NFL teams.

Now, No. 6 isn't so bad, and that's where King places the Eagles. He still loooooves the additions of Jeremy Maclin and LeSean McCoy to the offense.

"I think this team gives (Donovan McNabb) a better chance than the first Terrell Owens team in Philly," King writes.

But, but, but, the Giants are ranked third in the league? Third! The choking dogs that lost to the Eagles in the postseason, with a teensy, tiny effort from quarterback Eli Manning. Third! Still reeling from the loss of Plaxico "Damn, was that my gun?" Burress. Third!

"New York has an excellent chance to go to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years," King writes.

I respect Peter King. He works hard at his job. Good, solid work. Real work. But you have to take the whole body of work. If you are thrilled that he looooves the Eagles draft, then you have to wonder what he's thinking when it comes to the Giants. (And the Bears are ranked ahead of the Eagles, too. I'll fade that bet.)

oh no, ya' all know what's coming next. that right, another eli lovefest from the lonely one...funny, I just got done reading on another website that the giants are 1 of 6 teams predicted to totally take a nose dive next season.

The Giants lost Ward and Burress...their offense doesn't have much punch...they aren't going to scare any defenses...we've all seen how much less productive Eli is when he doesn't have Burress as a crutch to throw jump balls up to. Suddenly without Burress or TO in the division, the competition doesn't seem as scary. We'll see but if the Eagles gel in training camp and get off to a good start, then look out.

Any team in the NFC east that can run the ball can still compete especially in cold December. But the Eagles have definitely shown a comittment to try and improve their ground and passing games. I think that the Eagles draft looks better because of their moves through Free Agency. I believe that is the difference.

I heard a Giants fan call a Philly sports talk radio station last season, and compared Eli to Bart Starr. I don't buy it.......The Giant's free agent d-back signings look too good to be true. They will still be good. Nobody ever likes the Eagles, but they are in the mix more often than not.

King's a pundit who loves his coffee reviews. If the Bird's adopt a never say die attitude and channel Lenny Dykstra, AI in his prime, Bobby Clarke, and old dirty uni Pete Rose, they will rip anyone, anytime.

DM was born November 25, 1976 which will make him 33 near the end of the season not 34/35. Elway was 38 when he won his first SB. Anything to knock DM, wether true or false. I can hardly wait for the exciting Kolb era to start.

Losing Plaxico doesn't mean the Giants will completely implode. Besides, who cares if King ranks them at 3 and the Birds at 6 in the month of MAY? You may disagree with that preliminary ranking, but it doesn't strip the man of all credibility.
