Lance Armstrong, who cheated in a sport where EVERY top 100 competitor did, is the most disliked athlete in America despite waging a war against cancer in himself and millions of others? The sporting public, like the general public, has lost the ability to think.

Lance Armstrong lent his name to Livestrong while he cheated at cycling, bullied, and intimidated others. When the Nike marketers came up with the yellow bracelet idea he is on record as thinking it was stupid idea. But it wasn't his deal anyway since he was hardly involved in all of that.

I have to call homer on some of you. 14 years ago Ray Lewis was present when a fight broke out and two guys ended up getting killed. In court, separate witnesses testified that Lewis was trying to break up the fight and get his friends out of there. Lewis got in trouble for lying, covering up and obstructing justice. Two years ago Vick was at a party with a person he, by law, wasn't allowed to hang out with. They got in a fight at the party. About three minutes later the guy was shot. The police never found out what happened and nobody cooperated. There isn't much difference there. Vick also knowingly spread STDs, stole a watch at an airport security checkpoint, gave his home fans the double barreled finger, and mutilated, tortured, crushed, electrocuted, and drowned dogs with his own hands. I'm not sure how he doesn't have #1 wrapped up for the next 20 years.

Vick is a worthless degenerate low-life piece of garbage that's been stinking up this town for over 3 years now. Time to throw it out once and for all......or just simply shoot him in the head, that'll work too!

Reid's and Lurie's degrading in the eyes of the fans began with bringing in Vick. If Chip Kelly decides to keep him, he will be viewed poorly by the fans. The polls are clear, Vick and Lurie are not popular with the fans.

Ask all the kids and people who were disfigered by pit bulls what they think of Vick!

    philsfansince1946:

Its scumbags like Vick that turn some pit bulls vicious. They abuse them and train them to be that way. Pit bulls and other dogs are not naturally vicious.

No one should lump Manti Teo with people who've committed crimes. We all get duped in some way, at some time. Plenty of soldiers wish they hadn't fallen for the lies of what our wars are about. But they meant well, thought they would be serving liberty. Teo did lie, in the same spot many of us lie, where we're deeply embarrassed about something and can't believe how stupid we were. He did no harm to anything, including the game of football, which is trivial in the big picture anyway.

I have no idea why anyone would hate a celebrity -- that's just pathetic, getting hung up on someone you don't know personally. But it's easy to see why people would hate some things Armstrong, Woods, and Vick did. Personally, I like Mike Vick, in spite of his crimes, but think as a football player he's about finished.

There is way too much news coverage about certain athletes. But it does serve to help shift the ridiculous clean images some people have of sports heroes. Charles Barkley got it right a couple decades back. "We're not role models." And that includes people like Peyton Manning -- if he took a lower salary, a measly $8 million, it would leave more money for teammates and to attract better free agents. Who knows, he could have two more rings if Super Bowls were more important than getting top dollar for his efforts. There are very very few role models in pro sports, which is good. There are already plenty of moms, dads, uncles, aunts, teachers, etc.
