Eagles: All Smiles Heading to Day 2

After getting offensive weapons Jeremy Maclin and LeSean McCoy in the first and second rounds on Saturday, the Eagles get to sleep on what they would like to target for their remaining seven picks.

They hold: one third-round pick (85), four fifth-round picks (141), (153), (157), (159), one sixth-round pick (194), and one seventh-round pick (230).

It is unlikely they will use them all. More likely at least one or two will be either packaged this year, or swapped for picks in upcoming drafts.

There are some interesting players still on the board, including several tight ends who might rate the third-round pick. All are better receivers than stud blockers -- thinking of Jared Cook from South Carolina, Shawn Nelson from Southern Mississippi and Cornelius Ingram from Florida -- but the Eagles could use some depth there.

Couple of defensive ends are hanging around as well, Michael Johnson of Georgia Tech and Lawrence Sidbury of Richmond, but no one who is a sure thing. That's why they're hanging around.

Coffman would be a good pick. I am not sure on his speed though. But it would bring Macklin together with his TE teammate. So far this draft has really provided some really good offensive weapons..

Get a TE and a CB and then draft the best players on the board. Chase Coffman if he is still around or Casey from Rice. Try to trade Reggie Brown and a fifth to move up to the fourth. Good draft so far!

I think they'll move up in the 3rd or get a 4th to get a TE. Cook is fastest TE in years and could be steal. Can't block though. Coffman would be great pick too. Great job so far birds!! keep up good work!

The Eagles don't need a blocking TE. They don't like to keep their TEs in to block. They need Celek and whoever they draft tomorrow to improve their blocking skills. If the guy can't catch, he's not going to play much TE for the Eagles. I can't see them keeping more than 2 of those 5th round choices. I could see them trading 2 of them to get back in the 4th round.

Last year was a complete bust except for Jackson (thank God!) This year could make up for it.

Let's see...Jackson, Curtis, Maclin...Who are you going to double cover? Leaves lots of room for Celek and Westbrook. hopefully they all get so wide open that McNabb CAN'T miss them. Eagles should have pretty good team speed at the offensive skill positions.

Jimmyj must be able to see in the future to since he has declared last year's draft as a bust. You must be amazing.

Having offensive weapons doesn't mean a thing if your QB guns it 200mph into the turf 5 yards in front of you........he's so intent on getting that all time pass attempt-to-int record that he never throws a ball where it needs to be...only where it can't be intercepted....unfortunately for us that also means it's nowhere near where his WRs can get it either.......what a waste......

I think the birds have a great draft going so far. I would like to see them grab one of these Tight Ends here- preferably the best complement to Celek/ a red zone threat. I also like Chip Vaughn from Wake- hope we can package some picks together and move to grab some of these guys.

"The Egales still win nothing, not this year, not next year, never!" What a sad, empty life you must lead, dude. How many times a day do you come back to the computer and re-read your pathetic little comment? I'll bet more than five.

I think the Birds have addressed all major concerns. They need to perhaps get TE & DB and trade some picks for next year. They are good at getting un-drafted free agents. We still have guys on the bench. Look at the rounds we got Celek and Bradley and others. It seems that they got experienced DBs in previous deals to keep that from depending on the draft of being the source. Great show!
