Patriot Voices, the grassroots political committee of former Sen. Rick Santorum, has launched a campaign urging people to buy American when they're picking up holiday presidents. Oh, and the effort will add to Santorum's growing contact list for his future political endeavors.

Rick Santorum is asking Americans to turn Black Friday into Red-White-and-Blue Friday.
How? By participating in the Made in the USA Christmas Challenge organized by Patriot Voices, the grassroots political committee founded by Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator who ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012 and probably will again in 2016.
Patriot Voices wants people to pledge online to buy as many products as they can that are made in the U.S., starting on Black Friday and for the rest of the holiday shopping season.
The effort is on-message for Santorum, a social conservative who stressed the need to revive American manufacturing during his primary campaign. And it should come in handy for Santorum when Christmas Challenge participants will be leaving their names, addresses, cell phone numbers and e-mail addresses as they sign up for the program.

I like the idea, but since it's Santorum I don't trust them. Besides, I have a better idea. - I was a buyer for a large national department store chain for 35 years and turned down many USA made goods for their poor quality and workmanship and higher price. Many countries make far superior clothes at 30 to 50% less cost. Many US workers are lazy and think they're owed the world, which with their attitude, makes poor goods. I love buying US made goods but the quality isn't like the goods of the 50's & 60's, when I first started. Surprised Rick hasn't insisted on being Christian made goods.— quakercityguy

How are American workers supposed to feel when forced to work for low wages, little or no benefits, and yet see their companies' stocks skyrocket and CEOs pocket loads of cash. - I thought Conservatives were all about economic theory. Basic economics states the Americans who buy the least expensive item (no matter where it was purchased), leaves that American with more money to spend else-ware (in said economy). Trying to protect non-competitive industries is as conservative as Bailing out the Auto Industry. In reality Santorum is indirectly supporting Unions. - The two cars most exported to Japan that are made in America are Toyota and Honda. Many of the parts in Chrysler and Ford cars are made in foreign countries. Huge amounts of our industrial machinery is exported to Mexico. One of our biggest exports is education. What would happen if those i other countries followed Rick's way of thinking? - Consumers have a duty to get the best deal they can. I would love to see manufcturing come back to America. I had a little factory in Kensington. We had a niche in the sense that our customers were generally small manufacturing companies. We would occasionally get quotes on foreign parts, but it was still cheaper for us to make them instead of buy them. But as far as buying American for its own sake, I don't think that will have a lasting impact. Mmanufacturing will come back only when wages are low enough here and high enough overseas.— SteveMG
