President Obama’s campaign has been bombarding swing state markets with attack ads that portray Bain Capital and its former CEO, Mitt Romney, as pioneers of shipping American jobs overseas.
This morning, the Republican National Committee is striking back, with a website that details how Obama sent billions of U.S. stimulus funds to foreign firms involved in making clean energy products – wind turbines, solar panels, electric cars and related technologies.
Party Chairman Reince Priebus will hold a news conference on the “Obama outsourcing” later this morning in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, countering the president’s own trip to the Hawkeye State to tout his proposal to extend the Bush-era tax cuts only for those earning less than $250,000 a year.
“The Obama campaign has launched provably false attacks about outsourcing, but President Obama turns out to be the real outsourcer-in-chief,” RNC spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said in a statement.
In addition to the Bain critique, Obama and Democrats have been pushing Romney to disclose more details about past overseas holdings, including in Switzerland and the Cayman islands.
