Pa. Dem chairman 'excited' for Biden run

Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Jim Burn likes the idea of Vice President Biden jumping into the primary to challenge Hillary Clinton and company.

Outgoing Pennsylvania Democratic Chairman Jim Burn apparently would like to see Vice President Biden jump into the party's presidential primary.

"I am very excited about the possibility of Vice President Biden entering the race for President," Burn said in a statement released by the superPAC Draft Biden, which is trying to entice the vice president into running.

"Vice President Biden has connected with America on both a personal and professional level throughout his remarkable career as a public servant," Burn is quoted as saying. " A bridge builder throughout his time in the Senate and as Vice President, Joe Biden is a strong leader Americans can connect with and trust in to speak from the heart."

Roger Lund, chairman of the Adams County Democrats, also praised the efforts of Draft Biden.

"I have been a supporter of the Vice President for decades, particularly because of his exemplary record fighting for women's rights and commitment to ensuring equality for all," Lund said. "Carrying on the legacy of the Obama administration and all its accomplishments is of vital importance, and Vice President Biden, with all his direct experience in this administration has, with no doubt, the best chance to achieve those goals."

Burn, of Allegheny County, was elected state chairman in 2010. he declined to step aside last year when Gov. Tom Wolf asked to name his own choice to the post, but recently announced he would step down at the next meeting of Democratic State Committee.

That meeting is scheduled to begin Sept. 12. The front-runner to succeed Burn is Montgomery County Chairman Marcel Groen.
