Obama to Rake in Big $ in Philly June 30

POSTED: Thursday, June 23, 2011, 2:41 PM

You can have dinner with President Obama at Dem bigwig David L. Cohen’s Philadelphia home next Thursday, but it’s going to cost you plenty.

Obama is scheduled to swoop in for cash to be split between his re-election committee and the Democratic National Committee via the Obama Victory Fund. An individual can donate a maximum of $35,800 – couples up to $71,600 – to such joint campaign committees. The minimum ticket, according to the invitation for the event, is $10,000 per person.

Couples who donate the maximum or raise at least $100,000 from others get to be designated “Event Chair(s),” including a “VIP clutch” with the president. (Don’t clutch too hard or you might be restrained by the USSS.) Those who donate the individual maximum, or raise $50,000, will be christened “Event Host.” They will have premium dinner seating.

For $10K, you just get a plate. And some food. Oh, and a picture with Obama.

Cohen, of course, was the brilliant political operative and lawyer who was Ed Rendell's chief strategist and chief of staff when the latter was mayor of Philadelphia. After chairing a connected law firm, Cohen was hired as executive vice president of Comcast, a smart move considering his political ties. Comcast needs good relations with the government, which approved its merger with NBC-Universal, and is considering "net neutrality" regulations that would limit the company's ability to profit from metering access to the Internet.

And it turns out that if you can't afford to nosh with POTUS at David and Rhonda Cohen's, there's a reception for the hoi polloi earlier in the afternoon Thursday.

Tickets for the reception, at the Hyatt at the Bellevue on South Broad Street, range from $250 for young professionals and veterans up to $2,500 per person. And if you raise $10,000 for the cause, you'll also get a VIP clutch and preferred seating for Obama's remarks there.

The low-dollar event is at 3:30 p.m., and the Cohen dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Do you think the drug dealer they just busted will be there (out on bail). I'm guessing his welfare checks through the years could cover he cost of an Event Host.

Amazing with this corruption (I know this isn't illegal but this is the definition of corruption) our country hasn't fallen apart into a crumbling wreck. Oh wait.....

Obama broke all fund-raising records in his presidential campaign. How do the Dems come up with so much money when there's so much unemployment and the economy is a disaster?

You mean there are actually couples out there, stupid enough to pay $71,600 to aid and abet the further destruction of the US, and watch as Obama continues to use the Constitution as a snot rag? No one in their right mind would pay to extend the tyrany of this fraud if they weren't getting some serious favors ( which we see all the time due to the cronyism and corruption attendant to the Obama Adm) High Crimes and misdemeanors. He is the most ruinous president to the private sector we've ever seen.....and the debt issues he has compounded into a looming fiscal nightmare that will create havoc that the average person simply can't yet imagine.....but will witness in decades to come.

There will be women there with washtubs, laundering the money that comes from Chinese who funnel money from the People's Republic of China (or the Red Army) itself. Hillary had that little scam fine tuned. I'm sure China wants to maintain a weak, vascillating nincompoop like Obama whose dithering and ineptness for his office only serves to aid China rise to greater power in the world.

I've eaten with Cohen before, he spent most of evening watching the Phillies. No coincidence they're playing a day game on the 30th.

Why don't any of these wealthy liberals donate their money to help Philadelphia schools or homeless or whatever they are pretending to care about this year? But my real question is will any reporter for the Inquirer dare to call them on it?

Obama Remorse, I doubt that there is a Democrat out there who believes that Comcast supports the party in any way, just try finding a positive editorial piece on their web site about the President

Why are Veterans considered in the same category as 'young professionals'? Our Veterans seem to take the back seat enough as it is...too many forget about them, and all they do to protect us. If not for them, where would we all be?

One more reason - if any more were needed - to cancel Comcast.
