Obama attacks Repubs in Michigan as anti-autoworker

POSTED: Thursday, February 23, 2012, 1:04 PM

NORTHFIELD, Mich. -- President Obama’s re-election campaign has jumped in to the fratricidal battling ahead of the Michigan Republican primary, airing an ad that attacks the GOP candidates for opposing the government bailout that saved General Motors and Chrysler from bankruptcy.

“When a million jobs were on the line, every Republican turned their back, even said ‘Let Detroit go bankrupt,’” the narrator says in the 30-second spot. A freeze frame photo of Mitt Romney, who was born in Michigan and whose father was governor, appears with the headline of an op-ed Romney wrote in the New York Times that uses the word “bankrupt.”

Romney and his fellow candidates say that it’s not the government’s job to pick winners and losers. They argue that a private process of bankruptcy reorganization could have saved GM and Chrysler without taxpayer involvement.

Now, the auto industry is retooled and coming back strong, the spot argues, thanks to Obama, who shoved through the bailout. “Don’t bet against the American worker,” Obama says.

Romney is fighting former Sen. Rick Santorum for the lead in the Michigan primary, which will be held along with Arizona's on Tuesday. Texas Rep. Ron Paul also is running ads but has not campaigned here yet, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he is going to skip both states and concentrate on Super Tuesday March 6.

Unions don't kill companies - corporate greed does. Notice, the companies that went south didn't stay there long - they hightailed it overseas.

Carolina to get away from Union Labor and if you want a more local example, why is Wegmans kicking the snot out of Acme AND PAYS ITS EMPLOYEES MORE?!? Unions are like the short buses for labor...and the labor is too ignorant to know it.

Republicans have no shot because the government foots the bill and no one has to see how much it really costs to do something that should have been done by private investors and the banking system. The companies would not have gone bankrupt, not when they sell 15 million cars a year. Obama took them over so he could foot the bill as they made electric cars. Now he's trying to sound like it was a big emergency and he had to act. Plus he doesn't tell story. It's great they hired 160,000 people but they also eliminated 100,000 jobs so the gain is 60,000 jobs, not 160,000.

Ford Motor Company is doing very well and took not one penny of Obama money. Chrysler, on the other hand, still owes over $1 billion to taxpayers. So...where is the success they keep lying about and saying Obama saved the Auto Industry???.

JD Power released their list of the top most unreliable car brands....Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Jaguar. The 4 worst made cars are all Chrysler product. Good thing taxpayers bailed them out and are still owed billions from Chrysler alone. Hope & change, hope & change....Obama should be in jail.

Yeah citizenc, we're spreading disinformation everywhere. You suggest the Fed financed the bailouts, then compounded your insidious, delusional hate for them by...pointing out what they do and then suggesting thats its the most feared secret in the world. Yes, they perform fractional reserve banking. Horror! We've been over this -- you don't even understand the basics. We'll do it again. Real simple: The Fed wants to increase the money supply by 100B. The reserve requirement is 10%. What amount of bonds need to be bought/sold in order to achieve this increase in the money supply? Do bonds need to be purchased from or sold to -- member banks? (Dear reader -- sit back and watch this flailing).

Who will be brave enough to capture the true heart of the big cities gone forever under the blundering of the political machine?
Who will raise the standard and say this is what this town used to be... and this is what it is today! History beckons it's record be proclaimed. Political correctness keeps it from public disclosure.

whats amazing is the combination of gross management incompetence, and horrible union avarice, combined to kill gm. so what changed? an infusion of govt cash? Ford was able to by-pass by building quality. Not to mention all the investors both personal and professional who were just completely hosed... this will happen again.
