Your GOP: Sane or insane?

POSTED: Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 11:01 PM

Sane!

Chris Christie won the Republican primary this evening, defeating challenger Steve Lonegan and earning a chance to unseat Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine in this fall's election.

Insane!

The Virginia Republican Party spent thousands of dollars on extra security to accomodate the desires of some guns owners to carry their weapons at the annual GOP convention in Richmond this weekend. One party official estimated that additional security costs approached $35,000.

Stay tuned.

$35,000 for additional security. Who cares, it's THEIR money, NOT taxpayers'. What about the taxpayers money that paid for 600 cops on overtime to blanket the area the empty suit went to over the weekend? Plus secret service, planes etc? Over 3/4 MILLION dollars of TAXPAYER money. Get it willlllllbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrr??????????

35,000...a fraction of the cost of the Obama airforce one photo shoot over New York, and that doesnt include the lost productivity caused by the hysteria from fear of another attack. Is that enough facts for you will?

bill a, you need to get a life. There is more to life than staring at the computer waiting for a column. And if this killer is an Obama supporter, who cares? It means nothing. Richard Poplawski was obviously not an Obama supporter and he killed cops. Again it means nothing. Change your meds, they aren't working.

Virginia has a means for background checked people to openly carry weapons. All of the extra paper worked was completed and filed. It is a public gathering. Whenever gatherings and guns are mixed together, extra security is warranted. Extra security was provided, at a cost of about $3.50 per person. No official numbers, but it was estimated 10,000 people would show up. Therefore, following Will’s logic, it must be insane to follow the law at a cost of $3.50. Will is following the law insane or did you become an archaist after visiting California? Oh, nothing happened that was news worthy so this was the best you could devise.

"Whenever gatherings and guns are mixed together, extra security is warranted." Hmmm... This assertion is in direct contradiction to the the pro-gun argument that a well-armed armed populace is a safer populace. Which is it? Guns make us safer or gatherings and guns need extra security?

bryan, you don't seem to be unclouding anyone's views. You basically stated that the Ark shooter could have been inspired by some comments from Obama. You are doing the same thing you accuse Will of.
