What happens when "the liberal media" gets a bona fide liberal?

Well, if you're the Washington Post, you fire him.

First the Washington Post will claim that they had "lost confidence" in Froomken, then they will claim that he had gotten too old and senile to do his job, then the Post will explain that they disapproved of his telecommuting, even as they moan about CO2 emissions choking our environment. The reality is that he was getting an Obama crony in hot water for investigating brazen corruption and theft of Americans' money....... Or maybe Froomken got caught using his WaPo expense accout to pay for erotic massages from some 15 year old runaway boy.

i've always thought of Froomkin's blog as the "godfather" of attytood -- a blog on a mainstream media platform that isn't afraid to call "Bullsh*t!" regardless of the conventional wisdom being spewed by the rest of the media. And its that willingness to call "Bullsh*t" that probably has lead to Froomkin's demise -- Froomkin's days were numbered when the Post company decided to combine the editorial functions of the Post "online" and its print editions. Froomkin was decidedly not a subscriber to the cozy relationship between the Post newsroom and the DC power elite, and that made him not merely expendable, but a liability to a newspaper that is slavishly devoted to promoting the agenda of the lobbyists who run both parties.

That's what happens to journalists at the big media organizations who go off script - and I'm guessing that they all know it - which is why the American media has seemed like one big echo chamber in the last few years.

The Washington Post applied basic logic - Froomkin was hired to be a White House watchdog blogger, and, as you have shown, liberal bloggers don't do so hot a job as a watchdog against a liberal Administration. Ergo, time to hire a conservative. A conservative wouldn't ignore the burgeoning IG scandals the way you have.

I guess that makes sense, db, except Froomkin is highly critical of Obama. And who needs to read another slack-jaw parroting the shrill talking points of the clueless right?

A couple of weeks before, Froomkin wrtoe a pretty critical piece about a Charles Krauthammer column. I guess that was the beginning of the end.
