You only thought McCain was making an embarrassing gaffe in Pa. earlier today. Actually, it was a brilliant riff on the Eagles' "Hotel California."

Palin's expression when he calls the entire group of his supporters prisoners, is priceless. What's interesting to speculate about is what he was thinking about. Flashback?
Fascinating.////Today, John M. Murtagh made the following statement on Barack Obama’s relationship with William Ayers: “When I was 9 years-old the Weather Underground, the terrorist group founded by Barack Obama’s friend William Ayers, firebombed my house. Barack Obama has dismissed concerns about his relationship with Ayers by noting that he was only a child when Ayers was planting bombs at the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. But Ayers has never apologized for his crimes, he has reveled in them, expressing regret only for the fact that he didn’t do more. “While Barack Obama once downplayed his relationship with Ayers, today his campaign took that deceit one step further. Barack Obama now denies he was even aware of his friend’s violent past when, in 1995, Ayers hosted a party launching Obama’s political career. Given Ayers’ celebrity status among the left, it’s difficult to believe. The question remains: what did Obama know, and when did he know it? When did Obama learn the truth about his friend? Barack Obama helped Ayers promote his book in 1997, served on charitable boards with him through 2002, and regularly exchanged emails and phone calls with him through 2005. At what point did Barack Obama discover that his friend was an unrepentant terrorist? And if he is so repulsed by the acts of terror committed by William Ayers, why did the relationship continue? Any honest accounting by Barack Obama will necessarily cast further doubt on his judgment and his fitness to serve as commander in chief. “Barack Obama may have been a child when William Ayers was plotting attacks against U.S. targets — but I was one of those targets. Barack Obama’s friend tried to kill my family.”
Crime, was Ayers ever convicted of a crime? If not who dropped the ball..after all if he is a "Domestic Terrorist" shouldn't he be "detained"? BTW,only some of US are Georgians, now, We are ALL POWs(Prisoners of "W") McCain/ Pai Lin ...kNOw FEAR
Ayers was not well known outside of radical circles until his book and interviews around it in 2001, which is why Obama was not aware of his radical past in 1995. (Note that Obama could not have helped Ayers promote his book in 1997 since it had not been published.)
"Guilty as hell, free as a bird—it’s a great country." - Bill Ayers
"Obama was not aware of his radical past"//Kind of like he was unaware that his preacher of 20 years was a complete raging deranged lunatic? “I don’t think my church is actually particularly controversial.” It is to laugh.
Andy McCarthy: The Obama campaign has already lied about the timing (of their first meeting) once: i.e., staffers preposterously told the Times that the first meeting was at the Ayers home for the launch of Obama's career, and, after running with that, the Times had to concede in a second story that Obama and Ayers had met earlier — albeit purportedly still in 1995 — in connection with education reform (the Chicago Annenberg Challenge having gone unmentioned in the Times's earlier account). I suggested in yesterday's article that Obama and Ayers probably met when Obama was at Columbia and Ayers was at the nearby Bank Street College. (They had Edward Said as a common connection.) Even if my hypothesis is not right, Obama and Ayers were both involved in a hotly contested education reform controversy in Chicago in 1987-88. And as Ed Whelan has noted, from 1984-88, Ayers wife, Bernadine Dohrn, was an intern at the Sidley Austin law firm, where Michelle Obama was an intern in 1987 and became an associate in 1988 (the year before she met Obama — when he became an intern at Sidley). Obama was given very weighty responsibility in 1995 over what was a $150M+ education reform project that Ayers masterminded. At the time, Obama was only a third-year associate at a small law firm, with no executive experience. It is highly, highly unlikely that Ayers would have permitted such an arrangement unless he knew and trusted Obama. Given the common places and people in their past, it is a virtual certainty that they met before 1995.///BARACK OBAMA. LIAR.
Archimedes, did you actually think that the FACTS would deter slowboats derranged rants?
wow, McInsanes daughter in the background is a chunky monkey
Swifty, that dog don't hunt. All it's doin' is wetting your boots.
This is certainly a misstatement, but a gaffe? He often refers to his "fellow prisoners", many of whom join him at campaign stops. Do you really think this will somehow do harm to McCain's campaign? (How about we discuss Obama's campaign first accusing McCain of stealing his idea about buying bad mortgages, and then turning around and calling the plan reckless and out of touch?)
Don't think it will make a difference but it also doesn't show much respect for his followers. Perhaps he thinks that republicans in general (and especially his neocon base) will soon be prisoners of the loony-left world of Barrack Obama. Hope they enjoy it as much as we on the the progressive side have for the last 8 years.
