Only in America, where free markets aren't really free:
Remarkably, the country that prides itself on being the beacon of free enterprise finds itself with a financial system that needs government money to finance the most important asset most Americans will ever own.
Really? In America in 2008, there's no event -- except maybe for today's Eagles' game -- that I would consider remarkable.
Does anyone else believe they really wanted this to happen AFTER Nov. 4, but it just became unavoidable?

How long before Talking Point Nitwit blames this on McCain?
You KNOW it was unavoidable. Bush did this with a gun to his head --- a no-choice move from a President who all too often has proven he does place Country above Party. Unfortunately, both of them come after the adherance to the NeoCon Philosphy.
MSNBC drops Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from anchor chair... David Gregory will anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night.... Developing... DIDN'T WANT ANOTHER CAT FIGHT AGAIN I GUESS. BUT BUT BUT HE'S ED MURROW!!!
Funny how when the Republicans nationalize a major U.S. industry it is NOT socialism, but when the Democrats want to improve health care by universal insurance it IS socialized medicine!
NYTIMES: MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election. That experiment appears to be over. After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage. The change — which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle — is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel’s perceived shift to the political left/////"PERCEIVED". LOL
"Mr. Griffin, MSNBC’s president, denies that it has an ideology. “I think ideology means we think one way, and we don’t,” he said. Rather than label MSNBC’s prime time as left-leaning, he says it has passion and point of view."/// IT IS TO LAUGH.

What wasn't noted was that Morning Joe Conservative host Scarborough was also w-a-y out of line when he verbally bullied one of the reporters. I like Olbermann, Matthews & Scarborough, but feel all three were acting like children at times during the last two weeks. Like Hannity on the Right, Olbermann just can't help himself. I think its really obvious now that one of the jobs Tim Russert did better than anybody knew was keeping these egos in line.
It should be a big deal. But I doubt you'll follow up on this story, Will, given that Obama picked past Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson to head up his VP search committe. His successor, Franklin Raines, is a key Obama economic advisor. Both changed the very nature of how Fannie Mae operates to maximize their bonuses, and that in turn played a signficant role in their collapse. And both have helped channel large amounts of campaign contributions into Obama's coffers. But I figure, Will, that you'll do as good a job ignoring this story as you did ignoring Chris Dodd's sweetheart Countrywide mortgage. Heck, I bet you'll even uncritically parrot Obama's efforts to portray this as a Republican issue, if your antics over the past few weeks are any indication.
Priceless - they did this on Sunday so those not accustom to digging for their news would miss the story completely. Instead of shinning the brightest possible light on this problem and trying to fix it - those responsible try to bury it...Your government/corporate controlled country at work. Pathetic.
Just another example of how Bush is NOT a conservative. He campaigned as such but failed miserably.
Conservative governing principles have not failed the US during the last 8 years, Bush failed to govern by such principles except in his Supreme Court appointments.
It's pretty clear that Palin doesn't even understand tyhis issue. Palin said today that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." Memo to Palin, FM and FM are NOT taxpayer funded. Duh!
