Doesn't take much, apparently.

---}}} Perhaps most significantly, Americans so far find him to be likeable. More than 80 percent in the poll say they personally like Obama, even if they don’t agree with all of his policies. And respondents give him high scores on his personality, demeanor and leadership qualities. {{{--- Gee. I guess all that calling Obama a Marxist, terrorist-sympathizing, teleprompter-dependent, failure is really paying off. The 80 percent of the public that give him high scores will surely reward Republican extremists for personally attacking Obama 24/7. Keep it up, fellas. You're working wonders. Talking point sleuth
Nice, sloboat. Ridiculing someone who's lost his hair from chemo speaks highly of your character. Talking point sleuth
TPS -- I seem to recall wild eyed Dems attacking bush as a cretin, and a flat out moron when his approval rating was even higher then Obama's. Expect to reap what you sow. IggleFan68
Except the Dems were right about Bush, Iggy. But seriously, do you really think that the Republicans will be well-served by handing over the keys to the party to extremists? Frum: --snip-- The Specter defection is too severe a catastrophe to qualify as a “wake-up call.” His defection is the thing we needed the wake-up call to warn us against! For a long time, the loudest and most powerful voices in the conservative world have told us that people like Specter aren’t real Republicans – that they don’t belong in the party. Now he’s gone, and with him the last Republican leverage within any of the elected branches of government. For years, many in the conservative world have wished for an ideologically purer GOP. Their wish has been granted. Happy? --snip-- Talking point sleuth
The reality is that in the U.S. Senate, you mostly have to be on one side or the other. Now Specter is on the Democrats' side. It is definitely a plus for the Dems and a minus for the Republicans. citizenkane

My poll is bigger than yours, sloboat: --snip-- WASHINGTON - As he enters his 100th day in office, President Barack Obama enjoys higher marks from the American public than his most recent predecessors did at similar points in their presidencies, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. More than six in 10 approve of Obama's job, nearly two-thirds view him favorably, and a majority believe he has gotten off to a solid start during his first three months on the job....According to the poll, 61 percent approve of Obama’s job — that’s compared with George W. Bush’s 56 percent and Bill Clinton’s 52 percent at this same juncture in their presidencies. Also, 64 percent view Obama favorably versus 23 percent who see him in a negative light — once again, higher than Bush’s and Clinton’s scores on this question. In addition, 54 percent believe the president is off to a “great” or “good start;” 59 percent say he’s accomplished a “great deal” or a “fair amount;” and 64 percent feel more hopeful about the direction of the country with Obama in office. --snip-- Talking point sleuth
"Which of those three are you talking about, because it could be any one of them...." Hate! Hate! Hate! Just another day in the life... Bud Fox

The GOP has no one to blame but themselves. They cater to the likes to the Tea Baggers and Independents and moderates are completely turned off by these coconuts. They were all a twitter when Palin was nominated as a VP candidate. lolz......Ridge would have been a better alternative but he's Pro Choice and not welcome in the party. chasing history- I have a question. Do the liberal morons who post here (chasing history, TPS, etc) really believe that Specter changed because the republican party has moved to the right? Do you really believe that the fact that he was down 21 points in the primary had nothing to do with it? If so, you are 100% delusional, and you have entirely lost the ability to think rationally and logically about any subject (which I'm not sure you had in the first place based on your weak supporting arguments to your flawed opinions). You either cannot see that he is lying, or you are fooling yourself into believing him because it supports your beliefs. The man is doing whatever he can to stay in the senate, and he knows that if he remained a republican, he would have lost. He is a scumbag who just wants to keep his power. Good riddance to him, and I'm sure he'll fit in just fine as a democrat. pete317
- And chasing history, what is wrong with the "tea baggers" (again with the stupid sophomoric and overdone tea bagging joke? really? are you 12?). They are just ordinary people who don't want the country to run outrageous deficits every year running up the national debt, causing higher taxes for everyone in the future, and bankrupting our country. I think that there are more people that feel this way than don't. And I'm sure you felt the same way when Bush was increasing the national debt, but you complained about it then because you are a partisan idiot, but now that your lover Obama is doing it (to more extreme of an extent), you are all for it. pete317
