This city is smokin'!

What a day!!!
It's the new and improved Philadelphia, now with more baseball and less McNabb -- and our powerful new ingredient....marijuana!
Wow.
OK, quickly, the more I think about this McNabb thing, the more I like it: If the Eagles' management truly believes that the quarternack's skills are declining, then trading him in the division is a stroke of genius. And I think the Phillies could surprise a lot of people this year...to the downside, at least in the first half of the season with their messed-up bullpen, until they made a trade for an ace reliever in July. The pot thing? Works for me...politically, not personally.
- Pot and no McNabb might make it possible to watch the Eagles in 2010. No worries about the Fightins' give Lidge and Romero the month of April to heal. This team can bash its way to a .500 record in April. bird11
The proposal for easing marijuana penalties may be the first unambiguously positive thing I've seen a politician do in my lifetime. Talking point sleuth- Will Bunch: Pot=Yea! Freedom, Liberty, Fiscal Responsibility= Nay! jmc
- TPS they need to go all the way and legalize simply saying they won't prosecute isn't enough. The fact that 3,000 less pot cases a year only lessens the court load by 5% is scary. bird11
- On the start of baseball season I'd like to send my thoughts and prayers out to Davey Lopes and his family. Lopes lost his brother this weekend in a fire. God bless Davey and his family. bird11
- Well said, Bird -- Davey Lopes is one of the great people in the game; my thoughts and prayers to him and his family as well. will
So they are easing up on pot and cracking down on soda. Makes sense to me. RG- "So they are easing up on pot and cracking down on soda." Can't have those empty calories from sweetened soda when you have the munchies - the two laws are working in unison to keep Philadelphians slim (and stoned). bird11
Gotta say, although I liked McNabb as a citizen of this area, I think it is time for a change. A great career here but time to move on. Les Ismore- Two quick Obama questions - 1) why does he need a glove to throw out first pitch? and 2) with the way he throws will the lowly Nationals be signing him? bird11

Im so sick of this average joe-bama like hes one of us.Gimme a break.Id like to see how many people still think obama is hope an change if they heard the conversation between kucinich an him on air force one.I guess c-span missed that one huh. AnthonyCapo
Good point, AC - I mean it's like the feckless morons who voted for a recovering alcoholic - twice - because they'd "rather have a beer with him" than the other guy. Dressing up politicians as "everyman" - pshaw. I mean, as *if*. It'd be like pretending you were from a farm in Texas even though you were born to a family of privilege in Connecticut (with a oceanside estate in Maine) and went to Yale before getting your daddy to bail you out of Vietnam. Some fools *might* be duped into voting for you and an unreptentant draft dodger because they didn't like his *opponent's* actual military service. I guessed some people missed that one, huh? Yeah, just your average Gee, Dubya... E.Plebnista
Obama throws like a girl. KevinRx
Also, E Plebnista, is it possible that the US has a segment of people smarter than D's and R's and voted for neither Obummer or GWB? I say we stop with all the partison rancor and listen to this group, bc anyone who voted for either is missing a few brain cells. KevinRx- KevinRx - why are you insulting girls?? bird11

GWB: showed his college grades and SAT's. Obama- showed nothing. GWB: on at least a few occasions, during wartime, strapped himself into a military jet that contains an ejection seat. Obama? During peacetime shot baskets. valentsgrif

I guessed some people missed that one, huh? Yeah, just your average Gee, Dubya".... E.Pleb if you are using military service as your guide to voting for President, I think you may need to explain your votes in 1992 and 1996. bird11
Duh, they're only legalizing it so they can tax it. ramjr
Comment removed.- bag o cheese - it is a chronic problem bird11
- "if you are using military service as your guide to voting for President, I think you may need to explain your votes in 1992 and 1996." . . . . . . Bird, the 2004 election forever made military service an irrelevancy in presidential politics. Another gift from BushCo.
- TPS, your attitude toward legalizing pot explains most of your posts. Only a drug addeled dope smoker could come up with the ideas and arguments you do. Don't bother to respond-nobody cares. georgel
E Pleb- Ted Kennedy? speaking of alcoholics?......I would rather have a guy from Texas than an Elite Windsurfer form Mass. Manny Trillo
yo amen, we need some libertarians in Philly politics, then we could start seeing pot plants on the parkway historicalbum- "Don't bother to respond-nobody cares." . . . . Then why did you bother to post?
- "Don't bother to respond-nobody cares." . . . . Then why did you bother to post?
yo amen, we need some libertarians in Philly politics, then we could start seeing pot plants on the parkway historicalbum- Manny, your taste in men is duly noted.
---}}} Then why did you bother to post? {{{--- LOL! Not only that, apparently he also reads "most of my posts": -- "TPS, your attitude toward legalizing pot explains most of your posts." -- Because, you know, he doesn't care. ARt logic at its finest. Talking point sleuth- "ARt logic at its finest." . . . . . . . . . Like pulling out your wife's shotgun on a census worker. Makes perfect sense.
- Like Palin dissing the entire East Coast. You could take offense, but how can you be sure she knows where the East Coast is?
- "GWB: showed his college grades and SAT's. Obama- showed nothing." . . . . . . Obama's opponent finished at the bottom of his class. I think it showed great class on his part not to rub it in.
