Here's two things that might cause your head to explode:

1. If you read my book, "Tear Down This Myth" (and who didn't? :-) ), then you know that the villain of the story is actually not so much Ronald Reagan (although he has his moments) as Grover Norquist, founder of the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project and leader of the warped "Reaganism" movement of endless tax cuts and knee-jerk militarism. That's why you may be as stunned as I was that when it comes to trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other 9/11 suspects in a civilian court in New York, we're on the same side:

All the cowering from conservatives embarrassed former conservative Republican U.S. Rep. Bob Barr, Libertarian presidential candidate David Keene and Grover Norquist, chairman of the American Conservative Union. They issued a statement saying, "The scaremongering about these issues should stop," and "civilian courts are the proper forum for terrorism cases."

2. Did you ever think you'd live to see the day that the liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America criticized a mainstream media outlet for being too hard on...Sarah Palin? Me neither, but I think they're right on the money in ripping Newsweek for a string of sexist -- and bizarrely so -- photos that illustrate its new cover story on the woman who was nearly our vice president. I've posted the controversial cover up top but you need to click through and see two really weird pictures from inside the mag.

You think newspapers have problems in the Internet age? Weekly newsmagazines are flopping around like a dying mackerel, and this week's Newsweek is Exhibit A.

How many AP fact-checkers does it take to change a lightbulb?: Rogue's Eleven [Mark Steyn] If you wonder why American newspapering is dying, consider this sign-off: AP writers Matt Apuzzo, Sharon Theimer, Tom Raum, Rita Beamish, Beth Fouhy, H. Josef Hebert, Justin D. Pritchard, Garance Burke, Dan Joling and Lewis Shaine contributed to this report. Wow. That's ten "AP writers" plus Calvin Woodward, the AP writer whose twinkling pen honed the above contributions into the turgid sludge of the actual report. That's eleven writers for a 695-word report. What on? Obamacare? The Iranian nuke program? The upcoming trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? No, the Associated Press assigned eleven writers to "fact-check" Sarah Palin's new book, and in return the eleven fact-checkers triumphantly unearthed six errors. That's 1.8333333 writers for each error.........

Yes, it is hard to believe there are republicans with a backbone. Though I disagree with on most things, barr, etc. are correct in this. Maybe they can show the likes of beohner and giuliani how to grow a pair.

Amazing what a little airbrushing can do. BTW, nososwify, a whole lot more than 6 "errors" in her book. Maybe the 6 are just in the opening paragraph.

I gotta hand it to "conservatives." They sure know how to do them some whining. First, Palin constantly whining about how unfair every one is to her (it was Couric's fault she interviewed like an idiot, it's McCain's staff she was a lousy candidate, it's "mainstream media's" fault that most people thought she was an unqualified candidate). Now we have the "conservative" media whining 24/7 about how unfair everyone's treating poor Sarah, and whiners like sloboat repeating the whining. Whine. Whine. Whine. It's a whinefest. Good things Republicans are the party of "personal responsibility." Can you imagine how much they'd be whining if they weren't so personally responsible? LOL!

Runner's World EDITOR’S NOTE: "On the cover of this week’s issue of Newsweek is a photo that was shot for the August 2009 issue of Runner’s World, in which Sarah Palin was featured on the monthly “I’m a Runner” back page. Runner’s World did not provide Newsweek with the image. Instead, it was provided to Newsweek by the photographer’s agent, without Runner’s World’s knowledge or permission."///another screwup by News-weak. Oh well, at least a whole bunch of pakistanis didn't die like last time.

Stop leaning on the American flag, Ms. Palin! Completely disrespectful.

Kinda wrong complaining about sexism when there's over 100 pictures of the Lingerie Football League available for viewing on this website. Palin's on minute 13 or so...it'll be over soon enough.

This is a Catch-22: The elite crowd doesn't like Palin, yet middle America does. The more they pick on her, the more the heartland accepts her. The more she's accepted, the more the coastal liberals hate her. It just keeps digging in and polarizing.
