"There are no red states of America, there are no blue states of America..."
....only united states where people are up in arms about TSA and its body scanners, pat-downs, etc.
Maybe it's because I have no vacation time and less salary and have no immediate plans to fly anywhere, but other than admire the gross (literally) ineptitude of it all, I have to say I'm not as energized by this story as I probably should be (although somewhat lost in all the hullabaloo is the fact that two-thirds of Americans either rarely or never fly, but they don't host cable TV or radio talk shows.)
I am interested in the fact that liberals and conservatives seem equally outraged. That could mean the TSA scandal transcends politics, which in 2010 never happens with anything. Or it could be that right-wing distrust of all things governmental, especially in the Age of Obama, is finally combined with left-wing suspicions about homeland security engendered during the Bush years.
Discuss.
Or just watch this funny video:

Are you kidding? If getting padded down freaks you out, go through the feakin' scanner. It's truly amazing how many whiners there are in this country. Talking point sleuth

What's hilarious about that is the photo of a nun being searched that bile.atkins freaked out about was taken during the Bush administration.

FWNM- flying while non-Muslim....The Europeans use profiling. Since the current administration was straying towards the EU model, why not start there? AngryWhiteMale

Agree, TPS. I seldom fly but flew a couple weeks ago to Detroit and back. Since I have a titanium right hip, I always trigger scanners, in federal bldgs and airports. And I always tell the TSA person about it in advance. So, on the way out to Detroit I got the pat down. It was no big deal. The TSA guy was very courteous and explained each "pat" before he did it. It took all of about 2 minutes. On the way back, I went through the new full body scanner device. That took maybe a minute, tops. As I understand it, the person reading the scan doesn't have any interaction with, doesn't even know, the person being scanned and that the sensitive parts of the body are blurred. What, do we need another terrorist highjacking to remind us of why we need to do this? Stop whining! pj katauskas
"It's truly amazing how many whiners there are in this country." Its truly amazing how much of a coward you are. Your cowardliness is only surpassed by your ability to suck up to government authority. RG
So, we should just not fly because of an over zealous TSA? That is really your solution to this problem? I would rather take the chance of a bomb being inside someone, than having my 12yo daughter molested. And it is molestation -- what they do to you would be considered sexual harrassment in the work place, what makes it ok in an airport? Master Dreamz
This is the direct result of 10 years of wingnut fear-mongering. Too bad if the Bloated Billy Atkins of the world have to get patted down. I would rather do that then take the chance of someone blowing up the plane.
Oh, and the terrorists have won...again. Les Ismore

Les, "fear-mongering?" Are you delusional or were you an infant on 9/11? Fear is justified if you're being attacked or threatened with attacks. Were you on another planet when the Christmas Day bomber tried to take out an airliner and Times Square narrowly avoided a terrorist attack? pj katauskas
Oh, our principled lefties. They freak out when AZ wants to check proof of citizenship, but are okey dokey with TSA gropings and scanners. RG
