So unless you've been parked under a freeway overpass the last 15 minutes, you've probably heard that the Koran burning is off. Politically, it will be interesting to see if President Obama's strongly worded condemnation this morning had anything to do with the decision. I thought it was somewhat risky for our risk-adverse POTUS to do that, since the odds seemed more likely that this Florida nutjob would have ignored him
That's the thing -- this whole controversy was all about what they used to call back in the 1960s "a lone nut." To me, the real issue for America is can this be a turning point that will cause politicians who are not not nuts but merely manipulative -- yes, I am talking about possible presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin, among others -- to reconsider their encouragement of Islamophobia.
We can only hope.
- Go Home Everyone, nothing to see here.... So what's worse, the wackos or the 24-hr news networks who give these people notoriety and unwarranted attention?

The vast majority of Muslims support the US? Care to show some proof for that claim? RG- So now bill has a problem with random searches on trains. What are you hiding? I guess taking your shoes off at airports is a big inconvenience for you too, huh? Obama's fault? Mike and RG, couldn't agree more. Who cares? It's our flag not theirs. Now if it was an American burning the flag...but no American would do that right? one_eyed_jack
- C'mon no body is outraged by the burning of our flag???? There was only talk of burning the Koran by a church of 50 people and the Muslim world mobilized to burn American flags, (some of)their holy men declared that it was the duty of Muslims to avenge this by killing people who didn't burn the Koran but look like the people who did, and thousands marched and chanted anti-American and anti-Christian slogans . THEY BURNED OUR FLAG AND WE ARE ALL GONNA SIT AROUND AND DO NOTHING????? Hmmmmm yeah I guess that's what people who believe in free speech and tolerance do in that situation. bird11
Bird11... my apologies for confusing your post with another's on the previous board. I should have known better because you are always on target. Sorry! (the mind was wandering!) Catch22
and Bird11... you're still 'da man! Give 'em hell. Catch22- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz georgel
- Catch22, no you da' man bird11
- Bunch, TPOS and all the other leftists on this site are in the minority regarding the mosque issue. Have a nice day minority losers.

In related news, sales of American flags and copies of the Koran have increased sharply, as well as lighter fluid and matches. Haliburton appears to have cornered the market on sales of all of these items and their profits have tripled, leading liberal bloggers to claim that Dick Cheney has been behind this from the start. IggleFan68
By the way, Will, wouldn't this have been a more relevant question to ask of Ms. O'Donnell than asking about something she wrote 12 years ago? Might have been nice to get her take on Koran burning and the mosque in NYC, but I guess we can't because you were more interested in her views on sex. IggleFan68
==]] The vast majority of Muslims support the US? Care to show some proof for that claim? [[== Too funny. How many times in one day can you just flat make up stuff and attribute it to me, RG? Where did I say that the vast majority support the US? I didn't. What I said was that when "conservatives" pander to Islamophobes, our popularity decreases among the majority of the world's Muslim population. You just can't help yourself, can you? And btw, since you brought it up, favorable impressions of the US are low in Egypt, and Pakistan - each of which have large Muslim populations, but favorable impressions were at 59% in Indonesia (the world's most populous Muslim country - 203 million), 81% in Nigeria (78 million), 54% in Bangladesh (145 million Muslims in that country), and 76% in India (161 million Muslims in India). Oh, and contrary to your notion that all Muslims equal terrorists: --snip-- Nowhere did Muslims give majority support to Osama bin Laden or his al Qaeda terrorist group. --snip-- But yeah, it makes sense to make global statements about "Islam" because some radical Muslims react violently to Islamophobic lunatics - as you did in the previous thread. What's hilarious is that you've spent months whining about "guilt" by association whenever someone points out that people carry racist signs at Tea Party rallies. Talking point sleuth
