The Daily News' Fatimah Ali wrote an op-ed column this week that frankly I didn't see until late in the game because of everything else this week -- it was way off base including a bizarre suggestion that there'll be a "race war" in November if Obama loses, which is a highly inflamatory thing to say without any evidence to back it up. So the piece deserved criticism.

Except when the response is to make fun of her name:

On his syndicated radio show, Jim Quinn referred to the National Organization for Women as "the National Organization for Whores," and said of Philadelphia Daily News columnist Fatimah Ali: "[Y]ou know, Fatimah, what's your real name? Come on, seriously. I mean, get an American name, will you, if you want to be an American." He then asked: "You don't suppose she's a liberal black Muslim, do you?"

Stat classy, talk radio. That's why I have to laugh when the president of the United States speaks on national television with a throwaway line about "the angry Left." He's the leader of all the people, but only one ideology possesses this most basic human emotion. Puhleez. On the very day that President Bush said this, I wrote what I think was a pretty level-headed post when it came to Ronald Reagan -- I did criticize his energy and tax policies but noted he was pragmatic about picking a veep and that he was able to connect with voters in ways that Barack Obama has not mastered.

In response, a former functionary in the Reagan administration who now works inside the Beltway as a "communications specialist" wrote a potty-mouthed (and substance-free) response on Free Republic and emailed it to me with the heading "hey douchebag." And yet our president thinks only the Left in America is angry. In 2000, he promised to be "a uniter, not a divider."

Remember that when this year's crop of candidates promises how they'll be.

Seriously, this is the single most devastating example of Republican lackey hypocrisy ever compiled. http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=184086&title=sarah-palin-gender-card Lol! I'd like to see any of the Attytood Republican lackeys dare try to watch this clip and then come backs with some kind of an argument. Lackeys. Hypocrites. U.N.B.E.L.I.E.V.A.B.L.E.

With the neo-cons, it is always the spin. Black is white, up is down, and day is night. They NEVER let something trivial like the truth get in the way of their agenda.

"In 2000, he promised to be "a uniter, not a divider." Bush and Turdblossom Succeeded. He has united all the dividers on both sides of the aisle, by playing partisanship with every issue or tragedy that has hit America during his reign.

Will, you asking talk radio, a dead useless medium, to stay classy. The only way they can stay relevant is by insulting people. Imus with RU, Limbaugh with McNabb, the list goes on. Notice how it's all angry white guys slamming blacks? Seems a lot like the GOP and other commentors on your blog.

With respect to Palin's community organizer slur last night, this comes from a commentor at Mudflats.wordpress.com: “Jesus was a Community Organizer, and Pontias Pilate was a Governor.”

this author and this writer are not the things you should be defending, Will. you, and all your wacko lib friends at the inky/daily news would be more credible if you stood up and just admitted that publishing that piece of garbage by Fatimah Ali was a mistake, an embarassment, and inappropriate. I'll start by saying Jim Quinn's comments were garbage and that he should apologize for making them. oh yeah, and while I'm at it, we're still waiting to hear about a single accomplishment of Barack Obama's? Can you give us one?

To me, asking talk radio to be classy is like asking professional wrestlers to engage in a clean match and not play to the crowd. That's not why people tune in/come to their matches and they know it. So they serve up the "red meat" that "energizes the base" or titillates the dittoheads (hey, it's a dirty job but someone has to do it) and with depressing regularity cross the line of basic human decency with their rudeness. And then get rewarded for it with wider attention and new listeners. And the internet has given a whole crop of wanna-bes the chance to be just as rude as their favorite talk radio host or professional wrestler.

“Jesus was a Community Organizer, and Pontias Pilate was a Governor.” Well, let's hear some of the responses too.... 1.) I cannot stress this enough....Obama is NOT THE MESSIAH!!!! 2.) what book of the Bible recounts Obamas life? I would like to compare their records? 3.) Because Jesus wasn't planning to be around to run the greatest country in the world, at that time, you idiot. Anyway, Jesus also wasn't running for office back then, last time I checked anyway. 4.) She was saying that being a community organizer does not make him qualified to be the President. She didn't mock him for being one. 5.) Jesus is God, Obama just thinks he is. 6.) Who won when they went mano-a-mano?

I agree with Wilford Brimley. (I just wanted to say that) I'm sorry that being greeted as a d-bag was hurtful, I'm sure that's a little kinder than how some of the blogs you link to have referred to Gov. Palin. Jim Quinn's ignorance doesn't excuse the race war thing. When the DN goes out of print, it will be excused.

Tierney sadly dropped the ball with his misguided "pact" or whatever it was called. When one buys a restaurant, does one let the wait staff tell the owner what will be on the menu? Sadly, there are so many little folks (drivers/printers, etc - my grandfather was one - in fact quite friendly with Annenberg) whose livelihoods are sadly at the mercy of the bile that routinely gets printed in both papers - whether its Ali or Satullo, or the outrageously biased feeds from the AP/Reuters, etc. People continue to cancel their subscriptions over the left wing content at an alarming rate.

I switched my name first, and then some lame, unoriginal, fraud of a poser - who apparently is enamored and obsessed with me like all you Attytood Republican lackeys - took my old name after the fact. Interesting, though, no one seems interested in your moniker. Wonder why that is? Ya' think maybe because you're an idiot?

BTW, just because it's such easy sport, I thought I'd pick off another example of Attytood Republican lackeyism. Notice how the dead-enders of the party of "personal responsibility" whine like stuck pigs when mention is made of how the Palin's apparently have no influence on their children's morality, and whimper like lost puppies simply at the mention of the fact that their teenage unmarried child is pregnant? Unfair, they whine. It's not fair to hold the Palin's and their children responsible for their actions. Yeah, personal responsibility. Uh huh. Hypocrites, the whole lot of 'em.

Boca - please indicate to me where it is in my post that I say that Palin had more viewers than Obama. The point of the post was to indicate that the VPs speech - typically a rather boring part of any party's convention (see Plugs Biden) - was watched by just a little less than the other party's PRESIDENTIAL nominee. Even with DNC media promoting the Sainted One's speech for months on end! Even with it being on 4 fewer networks than the stuttering one. How embarrassing. The other point of the post was to point out the left and their media master's attempts to destroy Palin backfired - BIGTIME. Now do you get it? Now run along now, go clickety-click over to Kos and make up some deranged story about Piper. She's about the last family member left the classy left hasn't attempted to smear.

Swifty, she had a built in advantage to draw a large audience because no body in America knows who the F she is. And you know what, we still don't. Since she earned a degree in Journalism (journalism!) and wanted to be an ESPN sportscaster (her hero, by the way, is KO), she's comfortable in front of a camera. Which means she can read a teleprompter very well. I think things will be pretty interesting when she hits the campaign trail and has to answer questions without the benefit of a script to read from, Last night, all I heard was a bunch of sarcasm, a bunch of snarkiness, a bunch of empty platitudes, and a bunch of lies from her. None of us heard a single solid thought on how to deal with the problems this country is facing. None of us heard anything uplifting and encouraging for the future of this country. All we heard was the same old drivel. In terms of the media trying to destroy her, it will probably play out that, after the media vets her we will all learn that the media did a better job of doing so than McInsane's people did. And their revelations will be very interesting, I'm sure.
