The angry Right

The Daily News' Fatimah Ali wrote an op-ed column this week that frankly I didn't see until late in the game because of everything else this week -- it was way off base including a bizarre suggestion that there'll be a "race war" in November if Obama loses, which is a highly inflamatory thing to say without any evidence to back it up. So the piece deserved criticism.

Except when the response is to make fun of her name:

On his syndicated radio show, Jim Quinn referred to the National Organization for Women as "the National Organization for Whores," and said of Philadelphia Daily News columnist Fatimah Ali: "[Y]ou know, Fatimah, what's your real name? Come on, seriously. I mean, get an American name, will you, if you want to be an American." He then asked: "You don't suppose she's a liberal black Muslim, do you?"

Stat classy, talk radio. That's why I have to laugh when the president of the United States speaks on national television with a throwaway line about "the angry Left." He's the leader of all the people, but only one ideology possesses this most basic human emotion. Puhleez. On the very day that President Bush said this, I wrote what I think was a pretty level-headed post when it came to Ronald Reagan -- I did criticize his energy and tax policies but noted he was pragmatic about picking a veep and that he was able to connect with voters in ways that Barack Obama has not mastered.

In response, a former functionary in the Reagan administration who now works inside the Beltway as a "communications specialist" wrote a potty-mouthed (and substance-free) response on Free Republic and emailed it to me with the heading "hey douchebag." And yet our president thinks only the Left in America is angry. In 2000, he promised to be "a uniter, not a divider."

Remember that when this year's crop of candidates promises how they'll be.

I like how will "missed" the original article and was unable to criticize it, but when some talk radio no name jumps on it, he's all over him. Laughable like always will

Seriously, this is the single most devastating example of Republican lackey hypocrisy ever compiled. http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=184086&title=sarah-palin-gender-card Lol! I'd like to see any of the Attytood Republican lackeys dare try to watch this clip and then come backs with some kind of an argument. Lackeys. Hypocrites. U.N.B.E.L.I.E.V.A.B.L.E.

With the neo-cons, it is always the spin. Black is white, up is down, and day is night. They NEVER let something trivial like the truth get in the way of their agenda.

I see no problem with ridiculing an individual who has called for a race war. You'd have a lynch mob organized if someone like Pat Buchanan had suggested the same if the Messiah wins. You stay classy, hypocrite.

"In 2000, he promised to be "a uniter, not a divider." Bush and Turdblossom Succeeded. He has united all the dividers on both sides of the aisle, by playing partisanship with every issue or tragedy that has hit America during his reign.

Will, you asking talk radio, a dead useless medium, to stay classy. The only way they can stay relevant is by insulting people. Imus with RU, Limbaugh with McNabb, the list goes on. Notice how it's all angry white guys slamming blacks? Seems a lot like the GOP and other commentors on your blog.

Since we're outing 'classy', bunch hangs out in the cesspool that is Daily KooKs. Those are the lovely animals who started the rumor that young Trig's mother was not Governor Palin. You stay classy, Attytood.

With respect to Palin's community organizer slur last night, this comes from a commentor at Mudflats.wordpress.com: “Jesus was a Community Organizer, and Pontias Pilate was a Governor.”

this author and this writer are not the things you should be defending, Will. you, and all your wacko lib friends at the inky/daily news would be more credible if you stood up and just admitted that publishing that piece of garbage by Fatimah Ali was a mistake, an embarassment, and inappropriate. I'll start by saying Jim Quinn's comments were garbage and that he should apologize for making them. oh yeah, and while I'm at it, we're still waiting to hear about a single accomplishment of Barack Obama's? Can you give us one?

I didn't make fun of her name Will....I merely called her an a**hole.

"community organizer" is a euphemism for "unemployed".

Remember yesterday when Joe Biden talked about throwing his political opponents in prison? Yeah, sure, the right are the ones driven by hatred...

To me, asking talk radio to be classy is like asking professional wrestlers to engage in a clean match and not play to the crowd. That's not why people tune in/come to their matches and they know it. So they serve up the "red meat" that "energizes the base" or titillates the dittoheads (hey, it's a dirty job but someone has to do it) and with depressing regularity cross the line of basic human decency with their rudeness. And then get rewarded for it with wider attention and new listeners. And the internet has given a whole crop of wanna-bes the chance to be just as rude as their favorite talk radio host or professional wrestler.

“Jesus was a Community Organizer, and Pontias Pilate was a Governor.” Well, let's hear some of the responses too.... 1.) I cannot stress this enough....Obama is NOT THE MESSIAH!!!! 2.) what book of the Bible recounts Obamas life? I would like to compare their records? 3.) Because Jesus wasn't planning to be around to run the greatest country in the world, at that time, you idiot. Anyway, Jesus also wasn't running for office back then, last time I checked anyway. 4.) She was saying that being a community organizer does not make him qualified to be the President. She didn't mock him for being one. 5.) Jesus is God, Obama just thinks he is. 6.) Who won when they went mano-a-mano?
