What a week -- first we learn that BP's Tony Hayward was "demonised" (as they spell it across the pond) and now the Phillies are "Domonized"!
The Domonic Brown era has begun.
Centerfielder Shane Victorino was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an abdominal strain on his left side, the Phillies announced.
The Phillies selected the contract of Brown, the organization's top prospect, from Triple A Lehigh Valley to take his roster spot. Brown will wear No. 9 and will be available for tonight’s game against the Diamondbacks, presumably as the starting rightfielder.
This may be more proof that sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make -- what shape would the Phillies be in if they had shipped out Jayson Werth over the weekend? On the other hand, if Brown goes on a tear (and Phillies fan may be overly optimistic in that regard) the team will have quite a traffic jam when Victorino comes back. All things considered, I don't think the Phils will make the big trade that fans are demanding and expecting -- I think they get some bullpen help on the sly and that's it. There's too much uncertainty, and a lot of bad karma -- although the fact that they're winning anyway has to get you more excited about the 2010 team, which has already taken blow after blow after blow.
