Most Beltway pundits are tripping over themselves to come up with most enthusiastic "grand slam" phrase for Sarah Palin's speech, but this wasn't supposed to be about them -- it was supposed to be about the "hockey moms" and all the swing voters who haven't been signed sealed or delivered for Barack Obama.
So, what did some honest-to-God swing voters think? Check it out:
George Lentz, 66, Southfield independent: “I was completely underwhelmed. She was a Republican novelty act with a sophomoric script. It was not even a speech I would expect for someone running for the local PTA, much less for vice president.”
Diane Murphy, 42, Sterling Heights independent: “It appears that once she makes up her mind, that is the end of it. We live in a gray world, not every answer is black and white.”
Jan Wheelock, 58, Royal Oak independent: “Nothing worked for me. I found her barrage of snide remarks and distortions to be a major turnoff. She is not a class act. The most important point she made is that she will be an effective attack dog.”
Read the whole thing. There's another example here. (h/t Talking Points Memo)
Will, another weak piece. You should rename your blog to attyboooooo, you stink sir. give me liberty or death
You found someone, somewhere who did not like the speech. Well done...? bon
Not aimed at indy's in michigan. It was aimed at the base in places like Ohio and VA. Indys in blue or purple states were not the focus of the speech. jeffreyg61
"It was aimed at the base in places like Ohio and VA." so, the same strategy that Bush used? Yet she railed against the Washington elite and talked about reform. interesting. RG

My initial reaction is that Palin is causing a HUGE upsurge in campaign contributions to Obama and a mobilization to attack the McCain/Palin ticket on all fronts. Saying the gloves have come off in this election will be the understatement of the year. AHiredGun
Her speech, and Rudy's, was entirely TOO negative. It was mean and catty. The same old politics from the same old party. Enough is enough. Wolfgang
I'm an independent voter as well (having cashed in my Democrat registration a few years ago) and was turned off by the devisive speeches, more by Gulliani than hers. Captain Awesome

what will happen to this blog after the election? if obama wins then bunch wont be able to post anything so the right wingers can correct him. If McCain wins, Bunch will realize the little impact he really has, along with his fellow bloggers, and just fold up the tents TR
Is it just me or was Sarah Palin impersonating Roseanne Barr in her dress and mannerism. The RNC must passing out LSD because it was like I was watching episode of the 'Rosanne Barr Show' complete with their quirky family in tow, but the crowd conservatives were applauding her. I thought they hated Roseanne Barr? Palin's personal jabs at Obama were suppose to pass for entertainment, but Roseanne Barr sue for steal her skit. I was expecting Palin to spit on stage and grab her crouch. I guess Republicans would vote for a clown just to spite Liberals. Isn't that how Bush got elected for two terms? So Wednesday night Palin did her impersonation of Roseanne Barr; now, I suppose Thursday night John McCain will be performing as King Lear. All this political theater is great fun, but holly moose & muskrat burgers!...WHERE'S THE BEEF!? Does Palin plan to solve our energy crisis with a magical oil fountain that never runs dry somewhere at the North Pole? And how does Palin plan on distinguishing herself from our international adversaries if she's masquerading as a Pit Bull? I'm sorry, but that dog won't hunt in the global field. Acting like Pit Bull will only antagonizes terriorists. Liberal Zeal2
