How many times, and in how many ways, will this story and headline get written before it actually happens?

Andy Reid must go.

The Eagles' only hope to regain their stature in an evolving NFL is to bring in someone with an entirely different philosophy than the current coach/executive vice president of football operations.

After a decade, this program has run its course.

Once, Reid had the Eagles going as good as any NFL team. There was a 5-year span when they probably should have won at least one Super Bowl.

But that window of opportunity slammed shut after the Eagles lost to New England in Super Bowl XXXIX.

There's only one way to be a coach for life, and that's to own the team, like George Halas and the Bears or Connie Mack and his A's here in Philly. Maybe Lurie, Banner and Co. have a weird kind of comfort level with their coach, but the fans won't be comfortable until there's a new man calling the plays.

The most frustrating thing is that Reid never learns from his mistakes. Poor time management, terrible pass/run balance, and a complete lack of ability to make halftime gameplan adjustments are all still as present as they were in his first few years. Back then, he was just a QB coach who lucked into a head coaching job, so it was okay. In 2008, it's unacceptable, and he needs to go. I also really wish some of the vets on this team (Runyan, Tra Thomas, Dawkins) would speak out about this to put some public heat on Reid. It might be their last chance to win something, after all.

Reid is a misfit in this town. We want terms like body bags, revenge and headhunting thrown around. This .....it's my fault....and we have to do better......and we'll work on that.... just doesn't cut it. Reid's emotional reaction indicator points to zero. Where's the passion? Ten years and he still hasn't taken pride in ownership of the team. He only lights up when you talk about his favorite son, and I don't mean one of those bean bags that live with him, I'm talking about that bean eating quarterback Don Mcsadd. He makes Will look cool.

Mr. Smith
I've been an Andy Reid defender in the past, but I am coming to see that it is time for him to go. The real indication that it's time is that the cupboard is bare in the assistant coaching ranks. In the Giants game, it was obvious that the Giants practice and learn things like tackling and blocking. These are skills that the Eagles used to be good at, but no longer are. Remove Reid. Get a new vibrant coach in, who can attract some talented (not ossified) coordinators and energetic assistant coaches who can teach the young talent of this team how to play football.

Dick Vermiel took this franchise to a Super Bowl within 5 years of becoming coach and lost. A year or two later, he resigned during one of his frequent tearful press conferences. More often than not, when the Iggles lost, he would take heat off of the players by assuming responsibility for the loss. He is still viewed very positively in Philly. Reid took this franchise to a Super Bowl within 5 years, and lost also. More often than not, when the Iggles lost, he would take heat off of the players by assuming responsibility for the loss. He never cried or quit. Reid is beginning to be viewed very negatively in Philly. I guess he need to be a quitter and a crier.

I couldn't disagree more with the statement "the fans won't be comfortable until there's a new man calling the plays". If they go on a winning streak...especially if they beat Dallas...if they make a playoff run...the fans will once again love Reid and D-Mac. What have you done for me lately....fickle.

Dick Vermeil used to be on the verge of tears during some of his press conferences. That was passion.... Andy Reid's press conferences should be held at Tony Lukes. You know that is all he is thinking about.
