The spirit of 2011

POSTED: Sunday, November 13, 2011, 10:06 PM

Do me a favor -- when I reach the point in life where I've stooped to spending my weekends hanging out on the Web site of an opposiing viewpoint and gloating over a rape, please hunt me down and kill me. Having said that, of course I deplore the alleged rapist at Occupy Philadelphia this weekend, along with any other lawbreakers (civil disobedience not included) who showed up there in the month or so since they set up shop.

Sorry, rape gloaters, but that's no reason to denounce the majority of good people in the Occupy movement or suddenly withdraw my support, not when they've already done so much good in putting the focus on inequality in America, where it belongs. I do think, however, the safety, security and leadership issues posed by a now-winter encampment that's open to anyone in the 99 percent means that it's time for the Occupy movement to contemplate a new phase, Phase 2. We'll talk about that later in the week. I'm sure you can't wait.

Before posting here, you need to take a deep breath, read back what you wrote, and ask yourself, I am becoming so mentally unglued that:
    a) I'll get banned from Philly.com and then I'll have nothing to do down there in the basement all day.
    b) The whole world will discover that I'm mentally ill.
    c) Philly.com will work with my service provider to have me arrested and ruin my life (which has happened).
Luckily that doesn't apply to 99 percent of you (no pun intended), but 1 percent of you need to think about what you may be doing -- to yourself.

Will, it's your blatant hypocrisy and attempt to personally co-opt and profit from the movement that creates gloating over the movements failings. The way you and the left's echo-chamber sought out the most extreme members of the Tea Party and then denigrated and defined the entire movement as stupid, racist "Tea Baggers". You self-righteously gloated over your own (self-proclaimed) superiority as you attempt to marginalize a legitimate political movement. Dont be surprised when it comes back at you.

The funny thing about Will's post is that he prods Bill to ask himself something, then he never provides a question.

A sure sign of someone writing at the speed of emotion.

The right to assemble and protest our Government is one of the best parts of the Bill of Rights (ok, its basically all "best parts" except maybe for the 2nd Amendment as often interpreted), so I would not want to lose it. That said, I am not sure that a protest without end makes much sense.

It's about time atkins garbage has been deleted. How about having him banned altogether?

I'm considering it -- he'd probably just use a different email address and come back with a slightly different name. We'll see what happens when we go to Facebook comments -- I doubt he'd use his real name but he could always create a fake identity there. It would be more work for him.

It is part of the reason I do not post because there are people who are so uninformed, so brain washed by right wing media, so plain dumb, I want to reach through the internet and strangle the life out of them before they consume more of the limited resources of mothership earth but I am a pacifist.

As for the alleged rape, the Occupiers are providing full cooperation with the authorities; it is a difficult situation maintaining the Occupation when it is fully open to all. Yes, homeless have come and setup camp alongside the protestors because it has become the safest place for the homeless to be, some have been asked to leave because of unruly behavior but go pay the Occupation a visit walk around talk to the people, get something to eat, get a medical checkup, will not cost anymore then the bus or train fare to get there. Peace.

Will, While you have come out of hiding to respond to posts, how about responding to the question I have posed for weeks? Solyndra and fast and furious blog posts.
I haven't seen bill.atkins post anything seditious, threatening,or more personally insulting than anyone else (excluding that which may have been deleted). You,however, have just threatened legal action with the force of your employers legal staff and police action.Seems it's ok for you challenge sanity, comment on someone living in the basement and that's ok. Your are a bully with a keyboard.I don't take the comments made to me personally-you shouldn't either. The fact that you can be on the wrong side of almost every issue does amaze me, especially from someone who thinks he is smarter and more "evolved" than the rest of us.You have no grasp of practical business (only notions of Keynesian utopia)or the reality of what it takes to create sustantive jobs (not gov do nothing drones). You aren't a reporter, just a propagandist. Going to answer my question?

George, when are you going to respond to the question which has been asked of you and the rest of commenters here for the pass 7 years, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE $5 BILLION IN CASH THAT WENT MISSING IN IRAQ? Then we can talk about $400 million is a bad loan that Obama Administration cosigned. As for Fast and Furious, that was a continuation of a Bush Adnministration policy, so knock it off, winer.

I don't know where the money is-did you take it?

The Bush program didn't let the guns to cross the border-tell the whole truth. And as usual-libs change the subject. If you can't respond directly, don't bother.

Knock it off "winer"? Sorry, I don't drink.

You may now return to the basement and take your meds (Will was talking about you, right?)
