Do me a favor -- when I reach the point in life where I've stooped to spending my weekends hanging out on the Web site of an opposiing viewpoint and gloating over a rape, please hunt me down and kill me. Having said that, of course I deplore the alleged rapist at Occupy Philadelphia this weekend, along with any other lawbreakers (civil disobedience not included) who showed up there in the month or so since they set up shop.
Sorry, rape gloaters, but that's no reason to denounce the majority of good people in the Occupy movement or suddenly withdraw my support, not when they've already done so much good in putting the focus on inequality in America, where it belongs. I do think, however, the safety, security and leadership issues posed by a now-winter encampment that's open to anyone in the 99 percent means that it's time for the Occupy movement to contemplate a new phase, Phase 2. We'll talk about that later in the week. I'm sure you can't wait.

Before posting here, you need to take a deep breath, read back what you wrote, and ask yourself, I am becoming so mentally unglued that:
a) I'll get banned from Philly.com and then I'll have nothing to do down there in the basement all day.
b) The whole world will discover that I'm mentally ill.
c) Philly.com will work with my service provider to have me arrested and ruin my life (which has happened).

The right to assemble and protest our Government is one of the best parts of the Bill of Rights (ok, its basically all "best parts" except maybe for the 2nd Amendment as often interpreted), so I would not want to lose it. That said, I am not sure that a protest without end makes much sense.- It's about time atkins garbage has been deleted. How about having him banned altogether?— oldlion

- It is part of the reason I do not post because there are people who are so uninformed, so brain washed by right wing media, so plain dumb, I want to reach through the internet and strangle the life out of them before they consume more of the limited resources of mothership earth but I am a pacifist.
As for the alleged rape, the Occupiers are providing full cooperation with the authorities; it is a difficult situation maintaining the Occupation when it is fully open to all. Yes, homeless have come and setup camp alongside the protestors because it has become the safest place for the homeless to be, some have been asked to leave because of unruly behavior but go pay the Occupation a visit walk around talk to the people, get something to eat, get a medical checkup, will not cost anymore then the bus or train fare to get there. Peace.

'Rape' is only one aspect, you forgot murder, suicide and putting the very people they claim to support out of business. The fact that you would say these folks have put the focus on anything but the reality that they have no message and really are people looking for handouts is just wrong. - On A serious note (if thats possible on this blog) a report was released in Britain a couple of weeks ago. It said that after 12 years or rampant liberal tax and spend policies (ala Demorat is that better hamlet?). The coutry saw 110 seperate tax rises, its flat broke but more interesting the gap between rich and poor increased at a faster rate than had been seen before. Apparently taxes have a nasty habit of trickling down and that affects the lower income brackets more than the upper ones obviously. So we have this huge social experiment carried out over forty years in Europe, it has failed utterly but the demorats want to copy it anyway ?.— PAEnglish

- So according to murray Europe is doing just fine, theres no dept crisis from the tax and spend policies of the continents liberal governments. Angela Merkel did not say last week a Euro collapse will lead to war, France's banks did not fail stress tests because of their exposure to European wide debts. Britians credit rating did not remain ok because they didnt enact stringent austerity measures. Greece, Italy, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal are not in trouble because of Government overspending, France is not slowly falling into the same trouble as the above, Germany is doing ok because of its massive export economy to those same troubled nations, so when they go down so does Germany. Poland is doing reasonably well because millions of its citizens work abroad in the Euro zone, when the Euro zone goes down there goes Poland. All tied to rampant overspending by government mostly on unsustainable welfare burdens. Sorry to burst your bubble murray but living it beats trawling the internet about it.— PAEnglish
