The Oscar for Best Glorification of Torture in a Dramatic Role goes to...

Something to watch closely in the coming days. Does "Zero Dark Thirty" -- the killing-bin-Laden movie that's getting a ton of Oscar hype -- glorify torture? How long must we fight this battle?

Sikorsky deserves credit for extinguishing Bin Laden. Mr. Smith
I had been looking forward to this movie until I learned its attitude toward torture, and its conflicts with the people who should know what was or was not revealed as a result. Now I think it is just propaganda. Archimedes
I'm guessing you were out of town on Sep 11, 2001. There are probably 3000 or so families in NYC who also disagree with your opinion. There is a deceased Navy SEAL from Norwin who died in the line of duty rescuing a doctor who was providing humanitarian aid to people in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda and the taliban are pretty bad guys and got what they deserve. My opinion, respectfully, is whatever it takes to keep us safe is a good thing. usn retired
Amazing! The movie hasn't even premiered yet, and Bunch knows everything about it! Hey, Bunch, how does "Iron Man 3" end? And how does that Nobel Peace Prize look? J H
I'm as liberal as they come but I hate when political writers try to bring their politics into movies. This isn't a documentary, it's a film and its purpose is to entertain people, not be a 100% accurate recreation of what happened. Plus, Bigelow is a big time democrat who has donated a lot of money to democratic candidates so I hardly think she's trying to do a pro-torture propaganda movie. It's the same thing that happened with the Social Network which was just as ridiculous. matt t.
To all those defending torture...the photograph is a graphic on display at the Khmer Rouge Torture Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. All the excuses you give for torture are the same ones the Khmer Rouge gave.

Everyone enjoys rights and freedoms in this country but many complain that the price is a bit too messy for their tastes. The film is not yet out but we are told it 'glorifies' torture. Really? Will is FREE to write what he wants but honestly does this movie 'glorify' the act or speak to something else? Are we being told what to think? Spin from the left / spin from the right ..... elbrewador
"How long must we fight this battle?"
Your the only one who seems to be "fighting" it. jmc
"..but honestly does this movie 'glorify' the act or speak to something else?" . . . . Excellent question. I suppose you'll find the answer in the box office receipts. montani semper liberi
Can't wait for the sequel. You know, the movie about the killing of innocent civilians by unmanned drones. Wonder if Bunch will be upset about that one, or will he just pretend to be upset while secretly supporting the movie and it's makers. barlowjames1
What's odd about the torture scenes is that none of the "enhanced interrogation techniques" had any effects on the capture of OBL. The Fundamentals of the Economy are Fine
3 animals waterboarded - (yawn) /// meanwhile Bunch's outrage over Holder's Fast & Furious program - which was deliberately designed to cause murder & mayhem on an unprecedented scale - is nowhere to be found. what a laugh. teardownthisfishwrap

In the black world, anything could be true, especially over there. Anyhow, RIP Petty Officer Checque.
