Talk!

POSTED: Sunday, August 2, 2009, 7:48 PM

There's something wrong with the blogging software or my Daily News computer or both so it's taken a while just to get this far -- and there's a busy night of DN editing ahead, so I'll see you 'round midnight. Talk about whether the Phillies and their fans are overconfident after the Cliff Lee deal (hint: yes), "Cash for Clunkers," or this over-the-top provocative cop rant by Buzz Bissinger.

Buzz Bissinger? I thought he retired with the HIV about 5 years ago. Where's he been? In prison or something?

I hope the stories you are "editing" have some semblance of truth when you guys get finished with them. Somehow I see Bush/Cheyne/Yoo/republicans as being responsible for whatever bad things went wrong over the weekend.

Yeah, what a novel idea coming from you - "don't make stuff up." You mean like your comrade in arms that fat slob Andrew Sullivan's rant about Sarah Palin's child and who the real father is? Or was it your rant about Drudge not posting the article (which he did of course) about the heat wave in Seattle? Your next original thought will be your first, good luck.

Cash for Clunkers? All of the Ivy Leaguers in the Obama administration grossly underestimated the cost of the program. That's all you need to know going forward into other government endeavors.

Langx the dope: Drudge doesn't give his opinion on things. It's just a meeting ground to see articles written by others in other publications. Got it now? Denying what it says? Didn't think so.

Ah, the state run media is at it again. And poor dolt MSL actually fell for one of the lies. From Gov.Palin's spokesperson: "Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent “story” (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing. The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was reported to be Long Island). Less than one week ago, Governor Palin asked the media to “quit making things up.” We appreciate that the more professional journalists decided to question this story before repeating it." Meg Stapleton, Palin spokesperson.

When I watched the video and then read the transcripts I heard/read Obama being asked if he saw any merit in Ron Wyden's idea that the current system that relies on employer provided insurance needs to be "broken" because it cherry picks the young and healthy and leaves behind too many. Obama answers "I would hope that we could set up a system that allows those who can go through their employer to access a federal system or a state pool of some sort. But I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out where we've got a much more portable system. Employers still have the option of providing coverage, but many people may find that they get better coverage, or at least coverage that gives them more for health care dollars than they spend outside of their employer. And I think we've got to facilitate that and let individuals make that choice to transition out of employer coverage." I don't see how that can be called explaining how it WILL end employer based coverage; he was talking about the risk pools and that he envisions a future system that didn't solely rely on those pools being defined by employer, and more importantly, employer size. That's the part that makes employee coverage so prohibitive for small and medium size companies right now.

"Ah, the state run media is at it again." . . . . . . . I'm not so sure Winger, didn't the National Enquirer report Sarah's affair before Obama seized the media?
