THR-EAST-PEAT!!!!

POSTED: Wednesday, September 30, 2009, 10:12 PM

For the third straight year, the Phillies are the National League East champions! As Winston Churchill said, this is only the end of the beginning. October starts in 67 minutes.

I expected it -- I was kind of surprised he didn't have Lidge pitch the entire 9th -- too risky?

Don't count Lidge out - Charlie wanted to see how he responded. Great night at the Bank. Phillies stayed low key. Showed respect to HK but didn't go over the top celebrating. Happy for the new guys getting first taste especially Rauuuuuuulllll.

Phils dodge a PR nightmare w/ Moyer injury. Did I just watch Kendrick pitch himself onto post season roster????

They had a bit of their swagger back last night. Bring on the Cards or Rockies!

With 3 NL East titles, a NL pennant, and a World Series championship, Charlie Manuel is now the most successful manager in Phillies history. Who would have thunk it?

Will should have registered the headline as a trademark. Riley is living large off of 'Three-peat' (oops, I owe the man some cash)...

"Did I just watch Kendrick pitch himself onto post season roster????" I'd think only if an injured guy can't go. They have a 3 innign guy in Park and a few two inning guys in Durbin and Happ. Right now I'd say its Myers, Lidge, Romero, Eyre, Happ (or Pedro), Madson, Park, Durbin. Can't see leaving one of those guys off for KK.

Yankee....I believe if the Braves pulled off a miracle and won the wild card, it would be Dodgers/Braves and Phillies/Cards.

Glad Manuel used Lidge in the 9th. Lidge may yet be useful although I wouldn't thrown him into any high pressure situations any time soon. He is an experienced RP. Those that think he should be kept off the post-season roster should think again (unless he really is injured). The Phils still owe him over 20 million over the next 2 years. No need to shake his confidence any further. They are going to need a healthy Lidge next season.
