The McCain campaign belatedly endorses the concept of a "cone of silence"....for Sarah Palin.

It makes sense. This woman knows ZIP about anything. All it takes is one reporter asking her a basic foreign policy question and this magic mystery tour would unravel. I can't wait for Biden to tear her to shreds. I just read that Libertraitorman is prepping her on AIPAC...this is almost too easy.

Obama was sheltered from the media for more than a year and the media said nothing. Plain will be out giving interviews in a week or two and the media is up in arms. (I wonder if they have any more important questions about her breast feeding habits and the size of her daughter's belly...) This is the double standard to end all double standards.
So, I guess that Obama has agreed to debate McCain in a town hall setting without a Teleprompter?

Saying Palin is basically clueless isn't slander... it's the truth! Thank you Mr McCain for selecting a nobody. She apparently doesn't even know what a VP does. Probably won't have to worry about it. Obama 08!
if James/Wolfgang continue to say we know nothing about this woman because the media doesnt ask questions, how could say taht she is a disaster, or she knows ZIP about anything? wouldnt it be reasonable to maybe let her answer some questions first before ripping her? think about it.....of course, you guys just beat the drum for the dem party and dont have open minds so maybe you cant rationalize what I am saying
bon assuming your assertion is correct, you have to admit there's a difference between not talking to the media long before election day, and not talking to the media less than 2 months from the vote.
I thought Palin was againt federal "pork?" Then why did she request 160 million dollars in '08 and almost 200 million in '09 from the Feds? And I'm sure she returned the money to the Feds for the "bridge to nowhere" right? WRONG! See for yourself. http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/gop_convention_spin_part_ii.html
Politburo: Fair enough, I will concede that but you must also concede that Palin's inevitable arrival on the media scene and the Sunday talk shows will come exponentially more quickly than Obama's did. If Obama can hide for more than a year (and continue to hide from McCain on the issue of joint town halls) Palin can spend a week or two seeing her son off to war and getting the affairs of her state in order. (It is also worth noting that Palin will no doubt be doing town hall meetings in the near future. Answering questions from voters is a lot more important than answering questions from the media, no matter what the media mavens say.)
Why is she asking for federal money when the state runs a surplus? Just askin'. Oh, we're not allowed to ask. I wonder what Palin will say without a teleprompter. What do you think that Jeff Gannon guy turns up at her first press conference (in about a month)

SteveMG: This is very interesting. You all have spent 2 years defending a guy who cannot go out in public without a script, and now it is a scandal when a Republican (with a more substantive and accomplished record than Obama, btw) can match Obama at his own game? Come off it. (I have to wonder, what will you say when Palin flusters Biden in the debate and causes him to lose his cool? The more often you underestimate this woman the worse you will look when she constantly and consistently surpasses expectations. For instance: how silly does Obama's team look for trumping up the story that McCain would drop Plain?)
Xi Jah: I bet it was some terrible neoconservative who lives on puppy stew. Am I right? :)
Quick...who said this? "We'll be greeted as liberators?"
I'm still waiting for Mr. Bunch or anybody else provide an explanation as to why it is ok for Obama to refuse to appear at a town hall without a Telepromter, while criticizing Governor Palin for essentially the same thing.

"Why is she asking for federal money when the state runs a surplus? Just askin'." Good question...and one that you, nor Palin, has an answer obviously. Thanks for playing.
I never defended Obama for not going out without a script. As usual, you make stuff out. I can remember seeing plenty of footage with him answering questions either on the bus, in a diner, on a plane etc. The teleprompters must be the invisible kind. Whatever the hidden year is that you're talking about, it must have been the year before he announced his candidacy. (I guess) Perhaps he was getting prepared to run for President, as opposed to the McCain campaign, which hadn't prepared itself for announcing Sarah Palin's selection, and Sarah Palin herself, who (in her defense) probably didn't expect to be selected and didn't prepare herself. BTW, if you get a chance, watch the way the expression of her face and the tone of her voice changed when she came to some important foreign policy nugget the speechwriter put in for her.
Hey batboy, who's running for President, Palin of McCain? Try not to lose focus.
Bon, on what basis can you say that Palin has a more substantive and accomplished record than Obama? By my calculations, Obama has been an elected official and in public service far longer than Palin. Running a state with a populace less than Montgomery County for 21 months, and a mayor of a very small town, cannot be more of an achievement than serving in a state legislature and then serving as an U.S. Senator. I am not saying Obama has an extensive track record by any means; but, I am wondering how Palin's track record, in your mind, rates greater than Obama's.
"you must also concede that Palin's inevitable arrival on the media scene and the Sunday talk shows will come exponentially more quickly than Obama's did." --- By necessity, sure. I don't see how it's relevant. I also don't put as much stock in answering questions from cherry-picked audiences as you do.
Master - Check your calculations again. Palin was on the city council before Obama was in the Illinois State Senate. In fact, she was mayor for a short period before Obama was in the Illinois Senate, as well.
They'll get her on Hannity for a few minutes and lob some softballs. Who knows, maybe they can't even do that.
Hey neo-cons, you can spin this all you want. Putting Palin under wraps is exactly what those in the know expected the GOP to do. The media needs to jump all over this because it is an affront to the American Public's right to now how and where Palin stands on the issues. Rest assured if the media does not do so, the Blogging world will definitely pick up the slack. Way to go Will!!
And Sean Hannity will get a chance to hold the baby.
For those of you who "can't wait til the Biden/Palin debate," I can't wait til McCain destroys Obama in the debates. That will be amazing.

Xi Jah...Everybody knows that Obama said that this week. It shows that he can admit when an idea he was against turns out to be correct, unlike the sitting administration. As an undecided voter (read: not conditioned like Pavlov's dogs to pull the same lever every time based on party affiliation) I found such a statement to be fairly refreshing.
I don't agree with Obama. The surge didn't work.
I don't agree with Obama. The surge didn't work...you mean all those billions we have used to bribe sunni war loards hasn't worked? xi jah might start crying again.

I can't understand why this woman is being torn apart just one week after she was picked. Let's look into this now...admittedly, she would lack Foreign policy experience but I don't know of too many Governors who WOULD have such experience...Did Jimmy Carter have any? Did Bill Clinton? Can anyone think of any sitting Governor today that would have any sort of Foreign Policy experience? And why does it seem to be such a big deal that the town she was Mayor of for 2 terms doesn’t seem to matter since its population is what, around 7 to 9 thousand people? (I used that number range to reflect what I have read so far in the papers and online) The same goes for her being Governor now of Alaska. The population is between 700 to 900,000, but since that is small, that shouldn’t be considered either? Why should it matter about the population size of any town or state when it comes to someone’s record as a Mayor and/or Governor? Hell, you might as well throw out anyone who is a State or U.S. Congressional member of a small state like Rhode Island or Connecticut or from a state with a small population, from ever becoming President. It doesn’t make any sense…and since she is just getting adjusted to being in the role as the Republican VP candidate, shouldn’t she be allowed the time to get any and all affairs in order as well have the chance to get educated…seemed to be the best term to use…on the “goings on” outside of her home state? What is it that you Dems/Libs are so afraid of with this woman? If she is as “clueless” as you think, then lets move on to the real topic and that is the Presidential race, which has a Senator who has been in Congress since 1982 and a 1st term Senator who has spent as much time running for President as he has spent actually BEING a Senator from Illinois…who also has zero Foreign Policy experience…and do you REALLY want to bring up the use of teleprompters? Because the Senator from Illinois is great at using them…and not so great when they’re off.
scared?
B.at- Don't be silly, man.
Did Palin ever return OUR federal tax dollars earmarked for the Bridge to Nowhere? Oh course not, she's a liar. George Bush with lipstick.

Joint town hall debates is an issue? They squirreled her away so she can say so long to her son who is being deployed, and in the meantime, she will be studying the talking points of McCain's position.

I don't agree with the truncated quotation from the O'Reilly show, that is "the surge succeeded," but I do agree with Obama's full statement that the surge did not accomplish its main goal. Also, the main elements in reducing violence were the Sunni Awakinging, the Sadr cease-fire, and a change in tactics under Petraeus, not the additional troops. And that was the part of the "surge" that did work beyond anyone's imagination.
Gibba Mang - W with lipstick? That is the grossest picture that has ever appeared in my mind. Thanks a lot! I hope I can forget this trauma someday...I hope W can stop stealing Laura's stuff, too - drinking the cologne and falling off the couch was bad enough, but this is worse.
batty, Xitty - you do realize that those posts are blatantly racist, right? Why can't you just be honest and admit that being black disqualifies him in your little world? There are so many of you people finding "reasons" why Barry isn't qualified when all you really mean is that he is the wrong color. Pretty weird, actually, coming from someone who is presumably Asian based on the screen name - do you think the wingnuts like people like you better than Obama? I promise you they don't...you're like a Jewish Nazi or something. Weird DUDE!

How about selling that plane on eBay? Now why won't you let your messiah hold a press conference?
bon: Is it possible for anyone to more disingenuous that you are? And you are a hypocrit.
I seriously doubt it.
Senator Obama has been pilloried by the so-called main-stream press since he announced that he was thinkingh about running for president. And you know it.
Honesty does not appear to be your strong suit.

Palin is a radical religious nut...AND she lies. And now we now that McCain is a slave to the far religious right as well.
"radical religious nut"? - WHAT? to quote the PUMAs.... OBAMABOT ALERT!!! Keep trolling the internet.
For the record, here is the McCain/Plain schedule for today: http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/06/and-about-the-palin-bubble/ ----- Notice three interviews with the media in one day. That is more than Obama has in a week... :)
Its the McCain campaign people that believe Palin is currently in over her head & doesn't know what's going on in the world. Just from a marketing standpoint (which is what all campaigns' have), the interst in her is at an unbelieveable high. Do really think that if she had even a clue, she wouldn't be sitting with anyone with a camera-mic? Heck, she won't even answer a question thrown at her when she walks into a coffee shop. She better be a fast learner!
yobill, it won't take as long as you think. For her, everything is God's will, and she knows exactly what God's will is. If she doesn't answer the question, it's the reporter's fault for not asking the right question. Or for being sexist. Or liberal. Back to what's really important. Did you know she sold the governer's jet on ebay? Sort of. Why did she let John McCain embarrass himself like that? She couldn't just have told him she sold it? Oops, I must be committing a sin, because she knows what God wants. What's the difference between Sarah Palin and a mullah? Lipstick.
Did you know she thinks Jews are terrorsits' victims because they haven't accepted Jesus? It's simple, becuse if they weren't jews, then they would be Christians. And terrorists don't target Christians, do they? Oops again. Maybe if they were Christians, they wouldn't want to live in Isreal. Yeah that's the ticket, just convince the Isrealis to surrender to the terrorists by converting to Christianity and going back to where they belong. Who says this stuff is hard?
SteveMG: If she takes the attitude that she's just prepping for the first day of school, she'll be a dynamo. After all, she's had a lot of practice going to new schools.
Oops...I'm outta popcorn....have to go make some more. I'll be back in a jiffy. Keep goin'....don't let me stop you. (This is fun.)

Hey, batboy, just enjoy your own Messiah. How come nobody noticed that John McCain gave virtually the same speech George Bush gave in 2000? I'm surprised you guys haven't run out of Kool Aid yet. Are you in line for your turn to pose with the baby? I do presume you're delighted with the decision to keep the babies.

In fiscal 2003—the last fiscal year Palin approved the budget—the bonded long-term debt was $18,635,000. In fiscal 1996—the year before Palin took control of the budget—there was no general obligation debt. [Wasilla Comprehensive Annual Financial Report 2003, Table 10] What a Republican!

Spoken like a true second grader.

I guess that 20+ million in earmarks weren't enough for a big spending Republican.
SteveMG: I'm registering my offense at your comparison in behalf of all the nation's second graders.
I'm surprised no one commented about what a great TV show Get Smart was. Not only were the leads terrific, but each minor character had great quirks. Real off-the-wall stuff...
She doesn't pray to MY God. OOPS. Gotta go. My shoe is ringing.
