Shock! The monkee*
Remember a few years ago when all blog posts were about "cartoon violence"? Well, the phrase is back, with a twist. Is the New York Post really racist or just remarkably stupid. I'm leaning toward the latter, but this doesn't excuse this lame cartoon or Sean Delonas, a talentless hack who should have been fired long before this happened.
* Yes, it was a chimpanzee, not a monkee, but there's no outdated song from the '80s named "Shock the Chimpanzee." Am I simianally incorrect here?

Pagoda, I see this as a political cartoon based on current news events. I think anyone trying to put race in it has an axe to grind and an agenda to promote. The President is black; there will be political cartoons; some will be un-funny; move on. As for Palin, this is a simple tax dispute. The per diem traditionally was not considered taxable or was needed to be imputed. A question was raised about the per diem. Governor goes on record to ask for definitive answer. Gets answer, now owes taxes and pay taxes. What's the problem? Is this not how the system should work? I'd expect the same out of any Pol, be they D or R. Again, anyone making a big deal out of this has an axe to grind. Palin's situation is vastly different than Geitner or Daschle where there was willful disregard to pay taxes. Palin's situation was a reclassification of income and expenses. Read the article and see how much of a molehill this really is. rudytbone
translation of Bunch's post today: how DARE you insult the messiah like this! Bud Fox
"Where was the outrage at Condi Rice being portrayed as Aunt Jemima in an editorial cartoon?" Was there an editorial cartoon that did that? I remember a liberal shock jock in WI who said something to that effect and I remember the immediate condemnation from home-Senator Feingold among others. And, as I recall, an apology from the jock, albeit a self pitying, insincere one. But where was the cartoon? GreyHippie
There you go again taking things out of context and just repeating lies and stupidity. You know I'm talking about you, TPS right? WriteWinger
And I guess the cartoons with Bush as Hitler didn't come to your attention Will??????? You guys are so limp wristed it's not funny. WriteWinger
I just didn't find the cartoon funny or witty. I took a look at the Gawker post of some of his other work and didn't think it was that good either...the Al Sharpton one, though, was pretty good. Captain Awesome- "Who has the race problem here?" . . . . . Hmmmm. I'd like to know what the joke in this cartoon could possibly be other than a racist reference to Obama. Can you help, jmc?
- "They attacked George Bush for 8 straight years- you can dish it out, but can't take it" . . . . . . Bush is black?

You could have upgraded to the Nineties, Will - "In a time of chimpanzees I was a monkey..." db_cooper
Comment removed.- "No the democrat Chimps in congress did." . . . . Sorry idiot, I still don't get any humorous connection between cops shooting the mad chimp and Congress. If that's your story, not only is it not funny, it's not even logical.
- Will, this 80s classic seems to fit the bill . . . . . . . "...And hes up there, whats that? hawaiian noises? Bangin on the bongoes like a chimpanzee That aint workin thats the way you do it Get your money for nothin get your chicks for free"
- Maybe if they had multiple chimps at typewriters with people labeled "taxpayers" looking over them and the caption was something like "it's been proven that if we give them enough time not only will they write Shakespeare but a stimulus package too" I know don't quit my day job LOL bird11
- msl - great reference. Maybe we can use this one for Harry Reid "Harry doesn't mind if he doesn't, make the scene. He's (living off the taxpayers) he's doin' alright" bird11
