Quote of the day

"Even Richard Nixon didn't say white."
Speaking of which, be sure to buy my friend Rick Perlstein's "Nixonland," which just came out and is getting rave reviews.
You're a hypocrite Will. Clinton's statement is pretty much the same as Obama's "typical" comment. Irrelevant. You whined about the debates, yet focus on irrelevancies yourself. You're no better than the Repubs when you do this PC garbage.
Cool picture, though.
I do find it amusing how Clinton a) assumes that those people won't vote for Obama in the GE (which would raise the question why?) and b) how she keeps narrowing the voting block. Next it'll be working class, non college educated guys named Buck who drive F 150s.
Here answer to why is that Obama's an "elitist," you know, because she's working class and all. Next it'll be working class, non college educated guys named Buck who drive F 150s. After she gets done with the Bucks, she'll claim loyalty from an even smaller sub-division of Americans; those who still pathetically defend the Bush administration.
Can someone please tell me how you alter the text of your posts. i.e, bolding and italicizing text etc. I feel a little foolish asking but I haven't been able to figure it out. Thanks.
Even nixon didnt use the word white. What was popular in his day
were the words colored, and negro.
I'm guessing here...Is it like this?
As for TPS saying that Hillary's "white talk" is irrelevant, if it's got Peggy Freakin' Noonan calling it "jaw dropping" and "amazing" (neither in a good way), I think we can paraphrase Marsellus Wallace and say it's pretty effin' far from being irrelevant.
It's irrelevant because it should be obvious to anyone that Hillary wouldn't be stupid enough to deliberately insult blacks by insinuating that only whites are hard-working. It's also pretty hard to believe that she's stupid enough to believe such a thing. It really was a misstatement. As to whether she has a valid point - that Obama can't win over white, working class voters - that is a legitimate topic of debate. I completely disagree with her opinion, and think that in suggesting that she's pandering and using her "kitchen sink" attack from the right methodology.
And what she forgets to mention is that Obama actually did better amongst whites in IN, compared to 2 similiar (?) states OH and PA.
Does anyone else think Nixon looks like a 6-year old in a suit? He can count to four! Or is he making bunny images?
Still getting it wrong on Obama's "typical white person" comment. He meant that there is still an ingrown fear, no matter how small, that exists in white Americans, as there is fears of whites in balck Americans. He didn't say that those fears, however small, keeps whites and blacks from associating or even voting for those of the opposite races. Can anyone honestly say that they don't get a little antsy at the ATM at night if there's a black man or two standing nearby. Or that a black man can walk by a group of young white guys without wondering if he'll be accosted, verbally or physically? Wish I could say that those feelings don't happen, but you and I know that they do. Obama never said his grandmother or anyone like her is racist.
Mike, as long as Barack continues to need you to interpret his remarks, he's a LOSER.
Mike is right and only those who deliberately want to distort what Obama said would believe differently. But when I read Hillary's comment I think of a woman I know who actually said that she did not want to vote for Obama because all African-Americans are lazy. That seems to be the type Hillary is hoping to attract, but she doesn't need to bother because she already has them. I would think that a Wellesly-Yale graduate would be ashamed to admit that a person has to be uneducated to prefer her.
