Philly is clearly the place for political celebrities to hang these days -- first one of those indistinguishable Iraqi pols, and now Sarah Palin is here for a whopping 48 hours, which is like 10 months in politician-dog-years, doing, well...God only knows what. Apparently, it's the Dean Martin syndrome -- everybody's got to be somewhere, and with her campaign "suspended," somewhere is Philadelphia.

The only event on her schedule: She's going to be hangin' at the Irish Pub on Friday night. Who knew that Palin had a burning desire to meet Pat Burrell.

Meanwhile, the Alaska governor finally laid out the significance of her Sino-Alaska relations strategy. I could offer some snarky comment, but in the interest of America's future, why don't you read her exchange with CBS' Katie Couric tonight and decide for yourself on her presidential readiness:

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state.

Is this some kind of a trick? Who dubbed an answer from Miss South Carolina onto the video feed of Palin?

It was hilarious reading the comments last night over at LGF in response to this interview. F'in hilarious. Those freaks actually tried to blame the "librul media" for the fact that their party's candidate for vice-president is semi-literate. And that's being generous.

Huh is right. Cut and paste count = 4. Bonus credit for the "video clip". Nothing like stealing other's work.

Wow, ssb, that was an intelligent rebuttal to questions about Palin's readiness and foreighn policy experience. You always step up and contribute.

COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? Allow them to spend more, and put more money into the economy, instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess? PALIN: That’s why I say I, like every American I’m speaking with, we're ill about this position that we have been put in. Where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy. Um, helping, oh, it’s got to be about job creation, too. Shoring up our economy, and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions, and tax relief for Americans, and trade — we have got to see trade as opportunity, not as, uh, competitive, um, scary thing, but one in five jobs created in the trade sector today. We’ve got to look at that as more opportunity. All of those things under the umbrella of job creation.

By the way, there is no suspended campaign. I saw a McCain attack ad on the evening TV snooze and they are still in high gear at the local headquarters. This whole thing was a grandstand stunt by a desperate campaign that is on its way down the tubes.

Couric: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example with the Russians? Palin: Yes we have trade missions back and forth. We do. It's very important when... when you consider even national security issues with Russia as... Putin. Where's his head? And... and, comes into... ah, the airspace of the United States of America. Where do they go? It's Alaska, it's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation... Russia. Because they are right there. That are right next to our state. I think at this point I have to pull out some BA Baracus and say, "Quit your jibbajabba you crazy fool!"

I'm beginning to understand now why she's the "annointed" one. God works in mysterious ways, yes?

SSB. Apparently you misunderstood. The "huh" was directed at Palin's COMPLETELY INDECIPHERABLE babbling. Perhaps you, in your infinite wisdom, could explain her answer to me? "...as Putin rears his head and comes into the airspace of the Unites States of America where-- where do they go?" I ask again; Huh?

I was only kidding about Biden going down the shore to watch waves. He is going to be at Moes bar trying to make a few friends. Being a real guy what else is he going to do.
