UPDATED: One man against the world

A solidarity but electrifying protest in Istanbul.

Being in a minority, even a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.

-- George Orwell, 1984.

Tonight, a minority of one is taking on the Turkish government. Hours after police cleared out Taksim Square in the heart of Istanbul, scene of 18 days of protests, the person that Twitter is simply calling #standingman took up a solidarity stance in the center of the square. As night wore on, dozens streamed down to join him. The world is standing with you.

UPDATE: There's also the power of many -- check out the scene (below) from this protest in Rio de Janeiro tonight. The great unraveling continues.
