UPDATED: Nothing to see here. Move along

POSTED: Monday, August 27, 2012, 2:50 PM

Just another day in the U.S. of A.:

LUDOWICI, Ga. -- Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Also:

"This domestic terrorist organization did not simply plan and talk," prosecutor Isabel Pauley told a Superior Court judge. "Prior to the murders in this case, the group took action. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans."

I'm sure they didn't have any big plans...

The prosecutor said the militia group had big plans. It plotted to take over Fort Stewart by seizing its ammunition control point and talked of bombing the Forsyth Park fountain in nearby Savannah, she said. In Washington state, she added, the group plotted to bomb a dam and poison the state's apple crop. Ultimately, prosecutors said, the militia's goal was to overthrow the government and assassinate the president.

I don't remember these kind of things happening very often...before 2009, anyway. Maybe I'll have to read this new piece in the Atlantic called "Fear of a Black President."

UPDATE: The commenters remind me that right-wing terrorism has actually been a problem in America for a long time. Thanks, commenters.

There is almost NOTHING in the article that points to these idiots being right-wing zealots. In fact, they are an ANARCHIST group.

==]] Anarchists are typically aligned with what party? [[==

Yes! Great point, bucky. The Democrats uniformly are affiliated with people that oppose government authority in any form. It's' only logical. Brilliant comment!! The linkage between the Democratic Party and anarchists is rock solid.

I mean it's not like those unfounded claims that seek to associate the Republican Party with opposition to the "tyrannical" Obama government specifically, taxation more generally.

Hilarious. You boyz never get old.

The Republicans uniformly are affiliated with people who oppose government authority in any form. It's only logical. The linkage between the Republican Party and those who wish to destroy the government is rock solid. I mean, you've posted comments to this effect many times in the past.

Hilarious. Your hypocrisy never gets old.

Wait, it's stupid to connect anarchists with left-wing?

    Hmmm...

Brooks, Frank H. (1994). The Individualist Anarchists: An Anthology of Liberty (1881–1908). Transaction Publishers. p. xi. ISBN 1-56000-132-1. "Usually considered to be an extreme LEFT-WING ideology, anarchism has always included a significant strain of radical individualism, from the hyperrationalism of Godwin, to the egoism of Stirner, to the libertarians and anarcho-capitalists of today"

Are you saying that anarchists are sometimes (often) left wing?

Where did you get your law degree, Whatsamatta U?

Remember how insulted the right-wankers were when the gubmint posted this report in 2009? "DHS/I&A assesses that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists—including lone wolves or small terrorist cells—to carry out violence. The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today." Hello.

What evidence exists that these idiots were right wing? Extremist, I'll give you that -- but what evidence exists that they are right wing?

    Say - bucky.

Here's another violent group - that has nothing to do with far right wing zealots - that was in the news lately.

Keep your head in the sand, bro. That way you can continue to ignore far right wing extremism.

All I did was point out that there is nothing in the article that links them to being right wing. Just extremists.

But TPS hears extremists and automatically seems to think "right wing right wing, gotta be right wing."

I'll ask again, where is the evidence that are right wing? They might be. I'll even go so far as to say they probably are. But where is something, anything pointing to a connection in that article?

These far right terrorists killed two of their own and thought they could bring down a gov't with $87 k in weapons.

Meanwhile, 37 more people shot in Chicago alone this weekend.

Beautiful. I mean who would be considered about a group of extremists stockpiling automatic weapons - with the stated intent of killing people. If only I were a tough guy like RG, I could be indifferent to murderous extremists also (maybe the people killed were part of the "parasite class," anyway).

Like Will said, nothing to see here, folks. Just keep moving along.
