The amazing thing about Ed Rendell is that our governor and ex-mayor has put his foot in his mouth so many times there are still old cases I didn't even know about. The national media -- especially America's new sweetheart, Campbell Brown -- is ga-ga over Rendell's "no life" remark on Janet Napolitano, but I'm more in awe of this comment that somehow I missed the first time around:
Two years later, while running for a second term as governor, Rendell told the editorial board of the Lancaster New Era that gambling brings "brightness and cheer" to some seniors who otherwise "lead very gray lives."
"But if you put them on the bus they're excited," said Rendell. "They're happy. They have fun. They see bright lights. They hear music. They pull that slot machine and with each pull they think they have a chance to win."
Ironically, Rendell himself turns 65 on Jan. 5, and come this time two years from now, I expect to see the then-unemployed East Falls resident hanging around a lot at Chester Downs, watching all the flashing lights. As for his remark about Janet Napolitano, it was dumb beyond belief...but not sexist. The issue of balancing work and family, regardless of how crudely expressed, is one that may affect the different genders in different ways, but its impact is powerful on both men and women.
"But if you put them on the bus they're excited," said Rendell. "They're happy. They have fun. They see bright lights. They hear music. They pull that slot machine and with each pull they think they have a chance to win."

Bunch didn't say Governor Post Game Live wasn't sexist--he said that comment wasn't sexist (and it wasn't). That story you posted, b.atkinson, is worse than the Janet Napolitano story. And who's the broad wearing the Fruit Roll Up in the picture? Captain Awesome
Fast Eddie has never been more than a three card monty hustler. He never has done more than bandaids to serious problems and now he leaves us with a social disaster in the making in gambling. he never intended to deal with the issues which he clearly never understood. Just understood the gambling business paid for his election and they owned him. have you ever talked to the Philadelphia restaurant owners about he and his wife's dinner habits as mayor? dutchman

"Rendell is a perfect example of a person that should think before he speaks. You'd think after all the times he's been caught saying something stupid he would learn something.".....I think you just defined "stupid". ocjones
