UPDATE: Ants have no blood:

Philadelphia Newspapers L.L.C., which owns The Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News, and Philly.com, filed for bankruptcy protection today in a bid to restructure its $390 million in debt load.

The company, bought by a group of Philadelphia-area investors for $562 million in 2006, said the voluntary Chapter 11 filing would not interrupt its daily operations.

Can someone tell me what this "no blood in ants" statement means? I see Will use it all the time.

"...doubt there will be trolls afoot to blame the supposed "liberal media bias" for their troubles." You're right, the Inquirer and the Daily News are doing great and there is absolutely no reason to evaluate what they do and how they do it because it is working so well. In fact, the problem is that they don't do enough of it! What they really need is for even more of their writers to do far-left blogs where they examine every fault of Republicans, no matter how minor or irrelevant, while completely ignoring every fault of Democrats. Because the fact is that people LOVE hypocrisy. Oh, and they also should encourage all of their columnists to write books trampling in the memory of beloved Republican ex-Presidents, that seems so timely and is sure to prove those moron trolls completely wrong. And while we are on the subject, don't you just feel so all happy and smug when you call someone a troll? I mean seriously, all they do is come around and say stuff and ruin the stream of "yeah, you're right Will, I love you so much" posts that we all love so well. Why would anyone want to encourage, dare I say "tolerate" any dissenting voices. Everyone knows "tolerance" means tolerating only agreement.

I agree with (almost) all of your points Didderbops, but still revel in seeing the liberal newsmedia fail, while somehow "gonorrhea-laden" conservative cable news (actually opinion)/radio continues to dominate. When is the last time the Inquirer endorsed a conservative candidate for anything? A liberal media bias REALLY does exist on the major networks and large city newspapers. I would prefer to see a world where we didn't have to have a Hannity/Rush/Foxnews side to "balance" the media, but that doesn't exist. The only thing I can think of is that writers are more liberal in their thinking because they come more from the artistic/creative side, and that the liberal arts colleges fester with liberalism like a New York subway toilet does with syphilis.

maybe the Daily News can pull itself out of the toilet with the increased sales to the drug dealers they are so happy to be trying to exonerate

"When is the last time the Inquirer endorsed a conservative candidate for anything? A liberal media bias REALLY does exist..." . . . . Your fallacy is assuming that "not being conservative" necessarily equals "being liberal". There is a vast center in this country that newspapers have been serving for generations. It's the Republican Party that chose to neglect that center and now whines incessantly that their resulting marginalization is a liberal media conspiracy.
