Middle name Hussein

Over the last year, some Barack Obama supporters on Facebook, like the comedian Andy Borowitz (and the folks pictured above), changed their online handles to add the middle name Hussein: Their impeccable logic: If everyone's middle name is Hussein, where is the stigma?
Now that movement has a powerful convert.
His name is Barack Hussein Obama:
In his first post-election newspaper interview, with reporters from the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times, Obama was asked: “Do you anticipate being sworn in as Barack Obama or Barack Hussein Obama?"
He replied: “I think the tradition is that they use all three names, and I will follow the tradition, not trying to make a statement one way or the other. I'll do what everybody else does.”
It's the guy's name -- we should all deal with it. That's why it's good to see that he himself is.

Gotta agree. I never understood the logic of attacking someone's name. legatus
Got to agree that it's silly to attack his name. It was also the name of the late king of Jordan who was fairly good friend of the U.S. and even married an American. As far as I know the name is the middle east version of Smith. If you can't defeat a persons ideas don't stoop to attacking their name something they had no choice of as their parents gave it to them at birth. Jets

Comment removed.- I even sent him money; Obama that is, not Blagovich, didn't have enough for the Senate seat.
- "It's the guy's name -- we should all deal with it." Then why attack those who used it during the campaign? jmc
I was at a Bar Mitzvah for my close friend's son last weekend. The issue of the India terrorism came up in the Rabbi's "sermon." He talked about the election and mentioned Palin, McCain and Biden but never once spoke Obama's name. I found that VERY interesting. chasing history
Because those who used it during the campaign are trying to indicate that it is somehow relevant and that his middle name indicates some hidden agenda. They were attacked for either being stupid or rascist. gee1971- gee1971 - can we assume that all those people who referred to the 43rd President as Dubya should also be attacked as stupid. It really is insignificant and those who focus on it either way are missing the bigger picture. More important will he be taking the oath on the Bible or the Koran (JUST JOKING - HUMOR IS GOOD) bird11
"That's like thinking that William Jefferson Clinton has something in common with Thomas Jefferson." Well, now, I think they did have something in common: very friendly relationships with some of the staff.:) GreyHippie- THIS IS WHY PEOPLE HATE THE LEFT: "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" caused a stir at a New Hanover County school. A parent complained about the song's religious reference and got it pulled from her child's kindergarten Christmas show at Murrayville Elementary School. The song was pulled “because it had the word Christmas in it,” said Rick Holliday, assistant school superintendent. A Jewish mother, who didn't want her name published, objected to what she called "religious overtones" in the song. So the principal agreed to pull it from the program. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. bird11
THIS IS WHY PEOPLE HATE THE RIGHT. Apparently birdie assumes the woman is from "the left." Any evidence of such? Nope. Only that she is Jewish and objected to the religious overtones of the song. Once again, we have someone on "the right" who makes assumptions without any supporting evidence to viciously attack hundreds of millions of Americans. Talking point sleuth- TPS - I have no problem with the woman my problem is the total beatdown by the left on these types of meaningless issues has schools just roll over and die. A class of children in a public school clearly is not establishing a religion - and a great example for the kids on how the government will protect their free speech. bird11
I don't think the "Christmas songs" would scare people if there weren't hundreds of school boards voting to teach creationism or re-label evolution. When the panel of potential Republican Presidents were asked who believes in Evolution, not enough hands went up. pagoda
