For 50 years, he slid back and forth on a continuum -- from our most thrilling entertainer to one downright creepy dude. But if you're a Rear-Guard Baby Boomer like me, the folks just a tad too young for the fun and mayhem that was the 1960s, then you know that -- for better or worse -- Michael Jackson was ours, the first pop icon that truly belonged to us and not to the Woodstock People..
And now he's gone.
Writing the main story for the Daily News right now, but more later.....

Extremely talented. Extremely weird. R.I.P.
He was a tortured soul, and I hope he is finally at peace.
And RIP to Farrah Fawcett. And her nips.
these deaths always come in threes. who's next? erkel?
Tortured soul is being kind. He might have been the first "pop" star, but that doesn't excuse him and the "jesus juice".
"Hee, heeeee......Sha-mon-a."
Why is it that generations overlook obvious imperfections of their idols and facilitate their abnormal behavior? Wouldn't it be better to have chastised these individuals to the point that they regain some semblance of reality before they step off the deep end? Obviously NOT..... We drive our idols to an early grave with all of our adulation. Talented or not people are just people.......
Comment removed.
"these deaths always come in threes. who's next? erkel?"))) You're forgetting about Ed McMahon, Swifty.
Agreed, Comrade. It must have been terrible to bring so much joy to tens of thousands of people, but be so alone. Poor guy never had a childhood that was anywhere close to normal.
Ah yes bryanc - "You are correct sir"
Reports are surfacing that the cause of death is being attributed to the fact that, for the first time in 25 years, Michael Jackson looked at a mirror.
Michael Jackson, R.I.P.
[Ah yes bryanc - "You are correct sir"] "I wasn't the only one drunk, sir."
Now that The Gloved One is dead, I guess this means the Sloth will finally be cancelling his subscription to Tiger Beat.
