"Love Child"
It's great to have an excuse to post my favorite (seriously) song by the Diana Ross & the Supremes:
"Love Child"

"Love Child" is not my all-time favorite Diana Ross & the Supremes song; but, I agree with Mr. Bunch that it is an excellent song. Too many of the young people who weren't there then just do not undrstand the impact Diana Ross & the Supremes had on music at that time. Also, that particular song was actually quite scandalous because those were the days when if a woman was pregnant, there was a very quick "shotgun" wedding. My personal favorite is "Reflections." ----} Well at least this post had the effect of pretty much shutting up Ms. Smarty Pants TPS for now at least. {---- Still in your head, even when I don't post, eh jwad? LOL! Mission accomplished. Talking point sleuth
How do we know Obumma is a complete and unmitigated failure? Even Wilbur doesn't attempt to extol his "accomplishments". Yet Wilbur, the ever faithful comrade, does fail to expose Obumma's shortcomings such as NOT closing Gitmo, NOT ending don't ask don't tell, INCREASING troops in battle NOT diminishing them, doubling unemployment, tripling the deficit, soaring national debt (Obumma's INCREASE in the debt is greater than all debt from Washington to Reagan), independents FLEEING the Democrat party, etc etc. Nice going comrade! YOUR silence speaks VOLUMES about the EMPTY suit now occupying the White House. WriteWinger
"You realize that free markets by nature abhor competition." Thats the supply side, the counterweight is that the demand side benefits from competition. "Competition implies fairness, and fairness implies the need for referees and judges and so on. You think capitalism is a game and everybody plays nice, scout's honor?" Fairness is always an arbitrary question, depending on your viewpoint. Was ir "fair" that McD's had to fork over millions because a lady drove with coffee in between her legs? Depends who you ask. I don't discount the need for impartial (another arbitrary notion) judges, etc to mediate the game. I'm not an anachro capitalist, because capitalism does need refs to mediate. What the government does now is far beyond that notion. It still amazes me that you fear corporations more than a consolidated federal government with a monopoly on force. RG- Rg, it's not the fact of regulation, it's who controls it. You realize that free markets by nature abhor competition. Competition implies fairness, and fairness implies the need for referees and judges and so on. You think capitalism is a game and everybody plays nice, scout's honor? Yikes.

"Regardless of what?" Regulation. RG- "So bad things can happen regardless" . . . . Regardless of what?

"The way I'd put it, we have a corporate-owned government that alternately blames over-regulation for bad things and then blames under-regulation when that stops fooling us." So bad things can happen regardless, but now the government can appropriate taxpayer funds to benefit the connected class? RG- "So we have a managed economy in which the government blames the free market when things go bad?" . . . . The way I'd put it, we have a corporate-owned government that alternately blames over-regulation for bad things and then blames under-regulation when that stops fooling us.
Personally, I'd love to see other Reps ask for the deal that Nelson got for Nebraska. RG- "You mean bribes and payoffs, right?" . . . . . Right. Just add some salt and spices and you got sausage.
"One would first have to assume that a free market is theoretically possible." So we have a managed economy in which the government blames the free market when things go bad? RG
"We know that any real negotiations would play out informally behind the scenes anyway," You mean bribes and payoffs, right? RG- "Anyone still want to take a crack at arguing that we currently have a free market?" . . . . . Nope. One would first have to assume that a free market is theoretically possible. I therefore defer to you RG.
- "Their argument is that if the negotiations were televised, the politicians would play to the cameras." . . . . No doubt, and so what? We know that any real negotiations would play out informally behind the scenes anyway, but at least give the people the illusion of transparency.
Anyone still want to take a crack at arguing that we currently have a free market? http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/geithners-new-york-fed-urged-aig-to-keep-quiet-about-payments-t/19306868/ RG- "Be nice to Iran?" . . . . . . Indeed. Next thing you know, we'll find out he's selling missiles to the ayatollah behind our back.
HOW IS THET "BE NICE TO TERRORISTS" working out for you illiogical liberals? "Be nice to Iran?" .....what gulllible tools liberals are..... Manny Trillo
Swifty, the best is thinkprogress.org's repsonse to the challenge. Their argument is that if the negotiations were televised, the politicians would play to the cameras. So they are basically saying our Congresspeople are too immature to have cameras around, but are perfectly capable of overhauling our health insurance system. Brilliant. http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2010/01/05/cspan-conference/ RG
Gee - that's funny. I notice two things in this thread: (1) no incredibly stupid posts with laughable logico-mathematical mistakes, and (2) many "comment removed" occurrences. I wonder if those two attributes are coincidental? Talking point sleuth

Comment removed.- Baby Love... the problem with the Supremes is that they've been so overplayed over the years it doesn't feel like listening to real music. It's wedding and bat mitzvah party music. IMHO there were better groups of the genre around that same time.

- Orszag has spent all this time spewing nonsense about "bending the curve", and really what he was telling us was what he had done to that Greek broad. It had nothing to do with health care reform afterall. Mr. Smith

The only good Supremes song is "You Keep Me Hanging On" by Vanilla Fudge. It was either that or Phil Collins' "You Can't Hurry Love". I get them mixed up. SteveMG
