UPDATE: Some 68 percent of his constituents in Connecticut favor the public option,  but Joe Lieberman is instead siding with his campaign contributors: $2,395,369 from the health sector and $1,033,402 from the insurance industry during his undistinguished Senate career. Researchers at the Harvard Medical School say that 45,000 Americans die from lack of insurance coverage every year, so extending that to Connecticut's roughly 3.5 million people, that would be about 1,000 every year just in the Nutmeg State alone. I wish Lieberman could be forced to explain his position to the families of every blessed one of the deceased.

Some Boca Dude
If the D's were smart (which is up for debate) they would allow the R's to filibuster whatever form of the health care reform bill finally hits the floor. Make the R's postpone and postpone and postpone and postpone to the point where the American people finally drag themselves away from Dancing With the Stars to realize that the R's are simply fighting for Big Insurance and Big Pharma. Maybe Americans will finally realize that R's don't care squat about us, and maybe Americans will finally wake up and do something...like throw the R's out.

Will, Finally you have jumped the shark. You complain and complain about how uncivilized debate over issues become. You are just as bad as rush and beck.

So I was on my way to the lobby to stock up on some popcorn, but decided to stop in over at LGF beforehand. Saw this comment from an LGF reader --snip-- I was just over perusing the comments at Malkin's site, on some of the recent articles. One gem, by "TigerLady" was that something Beck said was right (about voting for Hoffman), and that she no longer listens to Newt Gingrich because he doesn't represent the party. . . .implying of course that Beck DOES. I'm feeling less and less comfortable with being registered Republican. --snip-- Anyone need anything from the lobby? - if you want popcorn, you'd better get some soon. I'm sure they're going to run out any minute.

Mr. Smith
At least those people in the cemetary got to die a dignified death, and didn't have to suffer through the degraded care, long wait queues, and rationed delivery like we are going to suffer through if PelosiCare is enacted like you creepy leftists want.

Doesnt Joe understand that OBAMA loves us and will take care of us. OBAMA loves us all and will ensure health care for you. All the Dems on this page understand this only evil republicans dont. OBAMA is the leader now and should be given all power to ensure our safety and health even if he has to force people to do it. I am with TPS OBAMA should be our leader forever and Joe should be censured for disobeying.

LOL! Let's break that down for you, braync. The 45,000 number was the # of people who die as a result of lacking insurance. Why don't you check into how many die as a result of having insurance and get back to us. Geez. Hard to believe, but I think you are actually getting even slower on the uptake. Must be all that Glenn Beck watching.

-CLIP-Mr.Grayson relies upon a report by Harvard researchers (who are coincidentally in favor of Obamacare) to arrive at his 45,000 figure. To do this, the Harvard researchers went to government health surveys and compared death rates. But, there are at least three flaws in the Harvard study. First, the data needs to be “sifted” to, in the minds of the researchers, make sure that a “valid” comparison can be made. And so the scientists have to get creative with the data, comparing insured people who smoke with uninsured people who smoke; insured people who drink with uninsured people who drink. They try to even out all of the risk factors, so the only difference in life spans can be blamed on health insurance, or the lack of it. The more researchers have to tinker with data, the more their research becomes an art form. Second, the surveys used give us only a picture of a brief moment in time. As follow ups to the surveys are rare, someone who was uninsured at the time of the survey may well obtain insurance later, but that same person who dies 10 years later with insurance will still be counted as the death of an “uninsured”. Obviously, the converse is also true. And third, The Harvard researchers looked at about 9,000 health surveys, in which about only 350 of the respondents had died. That’s a small sample from which to extrapolate 45,000 dead people a year, so it comes with a whopping margin of error. But, there is another study out there that Mr. Grayson ignored. Another study by Dr. Richard Kronick, a professor at the University of California, San Diego, and former senior adviser to President Clinton, crunched the numbers from 640,000 health surveys. He came up with a very small increased risk of death for the uninsured, with a very small margin of error. As they say, never let the facts stand in the way of a darn good opinion.-CLIP-http://radioviceonline.com/fact-check-45000-die-because-they-lack-insurance-not-so-muc/
