Jilted Glenn Beck tells nation: "Philadelphia is not a place you want to be"

As noted here earler, this is the week that Philadelphia cleaned up its airwaves, purging Glenn Beck as well as Sean Hannity from the radio here. (Beck was also dumped in New York City.) The king of all far-right media supposedly had a soft spot for Philly -- it was living here and broadcasting from WPHT out on City Line Avenue that Beck built his nationwide radio audience in the early-to-mid 2000s.

Jilted Glenn Beck tells nation: "Philadelphia is not a place you want to be"

Glenn Beck's comments about Philly are ...
right on
sour grapes

As noted here earler, this is the week that Philadelphia cleaned up its airwaves, purging Glenn Beck as well as Sean Hannity from the radio here. (Beck was also dumped in New York City.) The king of all far-right media supposedly had a soft spot for Philly -- it was living here and broadcasting from WPHT out on City Line Avenue that Beck built his nationwide radio audience in the early-to-mid 2000s.

But now that we're not listening, he told the rest of America what he really thinks of us. "Philadelphia sucks," Beck declares at the end of today's rant, which is focused on his notion -- and feel free to debate this, as I know you will -- that it's not safe to walk around the City of Brotherly Love at 6 p.m. (6 p.m.?) without getting robbed or shot. But rather than me characterizing what Beck said about Philadelphia, listen for yourself:

Plus, Lee's a hayseed from Arkansas. Indoor plumbing alone would probably get him to sign a rental agreement.

===]]] If I had a couple hundred million dollars in my bank account, I might relocate from Philly as well.... [[[===

Well, you do have the raving lunatic part down. All you need to do now is get discovered and maybe you can get your own show on Fox. You're closer than you think, Mr. Smith.

Maybe Glenn Beck can't go anywhere at 5 or 6 without incident. He's a shock jock fraud. There are areas of all cities that are not safe. This is just typical Beck, spouting off at the mouth with a loose understanding of reality, taking partial anecdotes and spinning it to support his agenda. Pretty much what he does all day every day....which explains why he's been cut to 2 significant markets.

The replacements aren't any better. Smerconish is ,at best, a rino. Giordano(come on) is boring. Not a regular Beck or Hannity listener so I won't miss either. I guess Will's infrequet radio appearances are going to increase. I guess he feels vindicated 'cause they are gone. Probably unhappy because he didn't get the gig he so wanted. Green eyed monster on line 2 for Mr. Bunch.

First of all, who cares what Glenn Beck thinks of Philadelphia or anything else for that matter. He says things to get ratings. He is a strumpet of the media - out to make a buck. Now, to LibertyBell1776...knock down N. Philly, huh? Where do all the impoverished people living there you go? Your comments are racist in nature. Have you ever heard the word "inequality"? It exists in our judicial system, educational system and economic system. It is ingrained in our institutions. Wealthy suburban school districts can spend up to $18,000 per year on each student in their district. The Philadelphia School District can't come close to matching that with our tax base (Philly probably spends half that per student). Here is an idea...open up a history book and continue your high school education. You really need a new perspective as yours seems to be trapped in 1776 when only white men with money and land mattered.

Thank you Glenn Beck! This should pretty much guarantee we won't be having you or any of your listeners in our city anytime soon. Not to mention, hopefully, those that reside here may stop listening to you. That's a Win-Win if I've ever seen one.

How and why did this morning zookeeper become famous? He was a morning DJ before he "found" politics. It's like taking advice from John Debella

Mr. Bunch, you wish you had a scintilla of Mr. Beck's nationwide audience.

Indeed. The truth hurts. Philadelphia sucks - the government is a mess, and the city, which was once a world-class city, will never amount to anything other than a runner-up to NYC and DC.

To make this city a world-class city, the city government must be reduced, taxes must be drastically reduced, and basic city services should be a focus (not the usual social welfare programs and political cronyism.) Streets, trash collection, and snow removal, police department and fire department should be the only services the city government should be LEGALLY able to provide. Anything more is excessive, and intrusive, and a waste of money.
