In other news, the Lord smites Barack Obama

POSTED: Thursday, August 25, 2011, 6:12 PM

I can't believe this took two whole days -- these guys are losing their touch!

Television evangelist Pat Robertson suggested on Thursday that a four-foot crack in the Washington Monument caused by Tuesday's earthquake might be a sign from God.

"Ladies and gentlemen I don't want to get weird on this so please take it for what it's worth," Robertson said.

"But it seems to me the Washington Monument is a symbol of America's power, it has been the symbol of our great nation, we look at that monument and say this is one nation under God," he continued.

"Now there's a crack in it, there's a crack in it and it's closed up. Is that a sign from the Lord? Is that something that has significance or is it just result of an earthquake? You judge, but I just want to bring that to your attention," he said.

Just wait until the nation's capital of sin and avarice is wiped out by Hurricane Irene! Symbolism? As I believe it was Bill Ayers who imparted this wisdom to his young protogee Barack Obama*, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind's blowing.

* Sarcasm.

I am not sure of the answer just asking a question -- how sure are we the crack happened Tuesday? Do they routinely check the monument for cracks? Is it possible that crack has been there for a few years? I mean Tuesday might have been the first time in years anyone looked at the monument that closely. Like I said I do not know the answer - just raising the question.

And I wish Will spent less time worring about Pat Robertson and demand his fearless leader in Washington get around to passing a budget at some point in his 4 years in office - that would be nice. I mean the guy is slamming ideas and coming up with debt limits needing to be rasied, yet not even a quick hand calc on the back of an evelope for any of this. Is a quick back of the envelope calc too much for the smartest guy in the room?

Passing a budget is Congress' job, not the President's.

Two days? You must not have noticed renowned world-rocker Drudge who chastised O for being in Martha's Vineyard when it happened.

The earthquake was caused by the Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves after looking at the National Debt. That crack ain't nothing!!

reddog - do you have any idea how many people watch a lunatic who lets them "judge" whether or not a crack in the monument is a sign from god?

I mean that's a lot of people listening to a lunatic and giving that lunatic credibility.

You wouldn't happen to know which party the majority of those lunatic listening to people my tend to vote for, would you?

No, the kind of lunatic that would tell American citizens not to expect disaster relief unless it is offset in the budget by cuts somewhere else. That kind of lunatic.

rudytbone - please do not spoil the slight of hand trick where Pat Robertson is used to glaze over the real issues that continue to go unaddressed like over 800 days with no budget, a jobs bill 2.5 years in the making where even the cover page has not been written yet. Or maybe we should listen to the guy who is "out for all the little guys" in Martha's vineyard eating at Brian Robert's Martha home - because he is a little guy struggling. The one way street is out of control. How come oil companies are bad charging $3.50/gallon for gas, but Roberts can charge you $200 a month to watch TV and that is somehow acceptable?

remember - distract with the right hand so they do not see the left hand coming.

If Keynesians are baboons that must make Supply Side Republicans jellyfish on the evolutionary scale. Which would explain why we're in this economic mess, actually.
