"If you're lower income," you "don't understand how the systems work"

That's probably true -- if lower income folks did understand how "the systems" work (perhaps too many of them are busy watching the Fox News Channel?), then there would probably be bloody revolution in the streets of New York and citizens with torches and pitchforks descending on East Hampton, where Mitt Romney turned up yesterday to raise cash by the beach-bucket-load, Norrmally I'm not a huge fan of "man-on-the-street"-style articles, but if there's a 2012 Pulitzer Prize in the man-on-the-street journalism category, the Range Rover window reporting of Maeve Reston should win hands down. What's going on inside the head of Romney lovers is even worse than you imagined (this comes by way of Atrios and Digby, the liberal Tinker-to-Evers-to Chance).
A money manager in a green Jeep said it was time for Romney to "up his game and be more reactive." So far, said the donor (who would not give his name because he said it would hurt his business), Romney has had a "very timid offense." A New York City donor a few cars back, who also would not give her name, said Romney needed to do a better job connecting. "I don't think the common person is getting it," she said from the passenger seat of a Range Rover stamped with East Hampton beach permits. "Nobody understands why Obama is hurting them. "We've got the message," she added. "But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies -- everybody who's got the right to vote -- they don't understand what's going on. I just think if you're lower income -- one, you're not as educated, two, they don't understand how it works, they don't understand how the systems work, they don't understand the impact."
Wait a minute -- nail ladies now have the right to vote?! When was that passed? Actually, all kidding aside, a lot of "common people" know exactly what's been happening in this country since around Jan. 20, 1981, give or take a day or two. They've watched Romney and the rest of the kleptocracy increase their slice of the American pie, even as that pie dramatically shrunk. And if they blame Obama for anything, it's for not doing enough to right that wrong. But you don't need a Range Rover to know which way that road's going.
Scranton, another city thats dead broke.

So if a democrat takes to pitch forks and torches, will you accept the responsibility that comes with your over-the-top rhetoric as the cause of their violence, Bunch?
I didn't think so, you low-brow turd. bp-philly 2.0
So what you are telling me is that Hollywood money(G Clooney, Ana Wintour, and SJ Parker) money is good , but Hampton money is bad? Clearly these people are pretentious and out of touch, but conservatives aren't exclusively arrogant. I often wonder how many immigrants "secretly" vote R's- they understand what it is to make payroll every month. How many payrolls has our Dear Leader" have to make? Tom813
"Wait a minute -- nail ladies now have the right to vote?!" Only if those Koreans have become American citizens. Even if they didn't, Dems will still allow them to vote. Commentdant_Klink
It may not be popular but what she said was correct. Today's common people think they are owed a living. bannedrepublican
Bunch..this article is just awful. C'mon pal, you can do a better hatchet job on Romney from your place on the far left wide of the planet Bunchatron in the distant reaches of the left looney galaxy. kelprod2
Liberal money is good, conservative money is bad. Got it Will. jimmymack

NO no Romney is of the people I saw him pumping his own gas on the Romney bus. Lol. Think about that. His campaign created the notion of him pumping gas into the bus in order to project his normalcy. Yeah, Romney, a man about town. Just give up the facade. You're a kleptocrat, dude. Yes, you have offshore bank accounts and paid servants and you've probably never done a hard days work in your life. So what? Murrayman
Will - were you one of those 17 people who showed up at the Romney-Koch protest over the weekend? You're the little stumpy guy on the left? Mr. Smith
murry, your overlord Obama has not spent a single day of his life at a real job in the private sector, only in academia...would he be considered a "man about town" in your book, you clown? bp-philly 2.0
I love the OUTRAGE when somebody says something somewhat controversial but ultimately true. Whether the lack of understanding is limited to the working class is debatable, it is impossible to ignore the fact that a vast majority of Americans have no clue as to what is going on in the world. No matter what side of the criminal coin you stand with. I read a great article recently that really got to the heart of politics today and the thesis of the study was... holy god, I just heard that one of the reality TV stars have a new topless photo online... what was I saying? phillyjeffsr
philly, here's how clueless people are over the budget.

Bunch- another of your liberal doyennes, Denise Rich, has renounced her US citizenship to avoid tens of millions in taxes. Maybe you can move to London with her or to Singapore with the Facebook billionaire to get away from here. By the way Ms Rich's pardon helper for her ex was none other than the fast and furious Eric Holder, that man of the people. Tired of Journos
