I refuse to use the same obvious headline that everyone else is using

Evan Bayh, soon-to-be-ex-Democratic senator from Indiana, is on my TV right now announcing that he's decided not to run for another term. There are 100 U.S.senators, and Bayh was not the worst -- we'll always have Joe Lieberman to claim the honor, unfortunately -- but he was pretty close to it. Rather than fight for middle-class citizens in his hard-hit Rust Belt state, Bayh served one constituency, the Beltway Media, who lapped up his whiny drivel about how impossible it was to do anything in Washington because nobody else wanted his do-nothing centrist brand of mush. In a final act of political cowardice, he announced his withdrawal the day before the filing deadline, leaving political chaos in his self-centered and self-serving wake. That said, today's move is arguably Evan Bayh's greatest act of public service -- leaving it.

Bayh.

Well, the marginalized minority sure knows when a policy doesn't help the middle class. They cheered eight long years of such policies. Sure, you screwed up. You trusted them. But, wait, maybe they can help...

I'm going to start writing all of the ousted (sorry, I mean "retired")Democrats on the palm of my hand to keep track of them.

RE Swifty's post: After the GOP and its surrogates spent most of last year scaring seniors into believing that healthcare reform would lead to the government getting its grubby mitts on their Medicare, it's a little rich to hear you wax pious about "generational theft." Not to mention the four more years of misguided and expensive wars along with disastrous lack of oversight in the financial sector that SBVFT aided and abetted back in 2004.

His worst sin, like his compatriot Biden, was naming his son "Bo"

slow boat., Sheesh man, you gotta get out more often and watching Glenn Beck is not the way to get up to date on the issues. 1.) Obama has not raised taxes on teh middle class. Period. As much as you say it is going to happen, doesnt make it so. Sorry... 2.)More regulations on the businesses that got us into this mess are needed and have the support of the American people (thanks Newt, thanks Phil Gramm and a special shout out to George Bush) 3.) Every poll except the Glenn Beck Make Sh*t Up Poll says the American people want health care reform. Every single one. 4.) Mirandizing terrorists...Where were you when Dick was mirandizing terrorist suspects. And by the way, Obama has put away almost twice the number of terrorists in his first year than Bush did in his last. Killed more also, but Glenn says it aint so. 5. "Generational theft" - haha...what do you call it when we go from a billion dollar surplus to the biggest deficit in history in 8 short years. Please....go back to Glenn Beck...You haters crack me up.

You are wrong Will.....Losing Evan Bayh is a true blow to the Democratic party and the system in general. Bayh was smart and thoughful. He should have been VP to Obama. He was not an automatic vote and thus he was your pal rachel Maddow's punching bag. We can kiss the Senate good bye now.

Will, apparently, Senator "Blah" doesn't meet the level of liberalism that wacho left wingers, such as you, prefer. Yep, when things get tough, the tough get going! The question is where are all these dem politicians going? To your dissatisfaction, ol' Joe Lieberman plans on sticking around (lol). While were on the topic, I don't recall a similar piece by you when Patty Kennedy announced that he was stepping aside. What exactly did Patty boy contribute during his tenure? It's fun watching the rush to the exits.
