"I built that Roadmap to Nowhere"
"I built that Roadmap to Nowhere"

As LBJ said in the infamous "Daisy" ad, "These are the stakes.."
Why on God's earth, with America's middle class already having taken body blow after body blow, would anyone endorse the economic policies that the Republicans are going to be putting out there, starting tomorrow nght?
– The Roadmap would lead to the wealthiest Americans paying a lower average tax rate than most Americans. Eliminating taxes on capital gains, dividends, and interest, as the Roadmap proposes, would overwhelmingly help taxpayers at the top of the income distribution, who receive most or all of their income from capital. For example, Wall Street financiers could shelter all of their income as tax-free stock options or carried interest.
– Middle-class families earning between $50,000 and $75,000 a year would see their average tax rate jump to 19.1% (from 17.7%) under this plan—an increase of $900 on average [...]
– Millionaires would see their average tax rate drop to 12.8%, less than half of what they would pay relative to current policy
The thing I really don't get is this: Won't destroying the American economy for good -- which is what the Republicans and their fat-cat allies seem hell-bent on doing -- be bad for millionaires in the long run? Are we really that greedy and short-sighted?

Too funny. If you believe it to be so, no matter that you have no facts to back up your belief, it is so. Is that it? Read below about the cause of Texas' explosion in debt under Governor Perry.
Illegals provide revenue to the state in many ways. But since you’re saying Texas’ debt is due to illegals, I guess now that you're going to blame Cali's economic problems on illegals also? How about:
Mississippi?: The state has the second lowest amount of citizens 25 and older with high school diplomas – only 80.4% graduate. The state also has the greatest percentage of citizens living below the poverty rate, 21.9%, and the lowest GDP per capita, $24,293 (38th in unemployment).
Nevada? 41rst in debt-per-capita, 50th in unemmployment, and 2nd highest rate of violence.
Illiniois? High unemployment (41rst), high debt-per-capita (42nd), and second worst S & P credit rating.
Arkansas?: Third-worst median household income ($37,823) and GDP per capita ($27,426) and is second only to Mississippi, with 18.8% below the poverty rate.
Must be all those Dems running the government in Arkansas, eh?
Oh, and no disrespect taken. Ask someone about the Interwebs, and The Google, and get back to me. Talking point sleuth
That darling Repub rep Ryan's blueprint says all of what Will said and more. Even repubs are backing away from it, for the time being. What gets me is, why do middle calss folk, which I assume the bashers here are for the most part, siding with the repubs who hate the middle class. Show me something the repubs have done in our favor, something that doesn't benefit fit the rich, but the workers who built this country. They've been in charge for a couple of weeks in the House. Where is the jobs bill? Where is their plan for the economy. Nothing!! But they will push through a repeal healthcare bill that the majority of Americans do not want, favoring the law now. GOP=Group of Phonies. mike l
"...the sky is falling, the sky is falling...." AngryWhiteMale- Will, don't you realize that cutting taxes on the middle class will make them lazy and complacent?
- How can Obama's approval be at 55 per cent? Wasn't Saint Ronald dipping below 30% at this point in his first term?
Comment removed.
British MPs criticize Climategate inquires.
MPs on the Science and Technology Committee have now concluded that both probes into the scandal had failed to “fully investigate” claims that scientists had deleted embarrassing emails.

===]]] Its not a structural deficit. [[[===
Texas has a projected budged shortfall for 2012 of $13.4 billion - which is equal to 31.5% of its FY11 budget. Its midyear FY11 gap will be $4.3 billion. FY10 budget gap for Texas? $3.5 billion
Oh, and btw, Texas per capita spending is dead last. Where are they going to cut from? It's already 36th in debt per-capita. Remember, it is also dead last in % of residents w/o health insurance, and at the bottom of the barrel in % of residents living below the poverty line.
It's not all bad, though, RG - Texas is also dead last in % of adults over 25 who have completed high school. Given your constant proclamations that education is meaningless, and your hatred that tax money goes to pay to educate poor kids, that sounds like your kind of place.
Have you started to pack yet?
Talking point sleuth- Yet its still experiencing population growth higher than the majority of other states. They have to balance their budget by state mandate, and they are proposing cuts to have spending match revenues. They still haven't even touched their rainy day fund, either. Meanwhile, Cali has cut and cut and is still coming up short. This despite having property taxes, sales tax AND a state income tax.

Wow! That is deep, RG. Some MPs criticized the report.
Hilarious.
Oh, and here's a clip from my favorite comment at the site you linked:

The acts of these people are the tip of the iceberg of a carefully crafted agenda of hegemony, which begins at the UN and rolls downhill, thru the EU to the Regional Assemblies, with a push by ‘civil society’.
Their method is to tip all political agendas to the left by various means, mostly by exclusion of all non-leftist views. They have massive, detailed, comprehensive programs to smack down any right wing or Nationalist opinion, programs which include labeling all other ideology unacceptable or extremist.
This agenda is cryptic, but not entirely hidden. To see it, you just need to familarise yourself with THEIR terminology and definitions.
Then search any particular political agenda, from environmental to migration, use your query in conjuction with THEIR terms....

Be afraid of the conspiracy by those thousands of left-wing scientists, RG. Be very, very afraid. Talking point sleuth- Its not a quote from Beck or Palin, so I know its not high on your obsessive reading list.
RG
So If i get this right, Will and the midless lefties on this blog want european style economics foisted on the U.S. , seeing how well it hasnt worked over there why in the hell would you want to copy it unless your whole plan is to destroy this country and what it stands for. Now I know most lefties hate their coutry whatever country they happen to live of but nobody in their right mind copy other peoples mistakes. PAEnglish- May I remind you that it was the American Wall Street and unregulated mortgage and banking system that is the root of many other country's difficulties. Their only mistake was investing in our immoral, greedy, can't-work-unless-it's-a-bubble, uber capitalist system.
